ROC Meet at Powder Mills - Red Course

Went around to C1, and there was a guy up ahead leaving C2, but he then went to C1 and back to C2. I ended up trading places with him a few times, but he was quicker on the ups and downs and going over downed stuff, so he worked his way ahead a couple of times, including leaving C15 or 16 (the southern-most control near the end - both Z and I had to recycle our maps). But I made up quite a bit of ground on the grid-o at the end, so I was pretty sure I had gotten close enough to finish ahead of him.

AP has me down for over 8 minutes of mistakes, but I believe most of the mistakes were just areas where my Achilles and right groin limited my mobility. I'll have to check when I can see a map again. It also seemed like a little too much dogleg action, and many controls were too close to trails that had attackpoints, but I'll need to see the map again.

In the end, I probably overdid it, especially after the two trail "races" this week, but we'll see how the next few days go.

P=173, C=73
Got myself over to the Y after getting home from work, via picking Z up in EA. The late lunch helped.

Biking 23:52 [3] 6.98 mi (3:25 / mi)
ahr:126 max:151

P=184, C=72
Didn't kill myself on this one, given the races the last two days.

Biking 18:57 [3] 5.37 mi (3:32 / mi)

P=194, C=71
freakin' fouser. I was just going to cruise around this course, but he had a 19:13 atop the leaderboard, so I had to make sure I went under that.

Biking warm up/down 3:19 [2] 1.0 mi (3:19 / mi)

P=164, C=77
Easy spin, stayed in 14th but beat the 180 pacer.

Biking warm up/down 4:00 [2] 1.0 mi (4:00 / mi)

BFLO Trail Race at Knox.
With the race yesterday, I decided to walk earlier and more often, but only 30 seconds at a time. This worked out well and I passed 10 people between mile 1 and mile 3. However, just before the 3 mile mark, we ran into some faster runners that were lost, but I knew we were OK. I kept going and wound up where we saw them, so I did a second time around the loop and saw an obscure turn off the main trail through a patch of woods - the markers had been tampered with.

Did manage to pass 3 people on the way in to avoid finishing last - some of the people I passed earlier went the right away and other took shortcuts after going the wrong way.

Dirt Cheap Trail Race at Black Creek Park

Didn't quite make the top half, but I held on pretty well. Took a walking break after each 10 minutes of running, except for the last time - I couldn't bring myself to walk in the last mile.

Note
(rest day)

Punched out early to catch some of Luke's baseball game before he had to leave early and head to his band concert. They were losing the ball game when we left, but he won the concert, picking up the outstanding musician award. By then I was ready to eat instead of working out.

Map Hike at Hunters Creek. I was on the map that they used to set the controls which, unlike the southern portion of the map, was a 1:7.5 copy. Took me a while to figure that out, then it was fairly smooth sailing, although the trail running south on the west portion was twistier and had more branches than mapped. Got back to the parking lot and it was just 2.1 miles, so I jogged another loop, which included a major uphill.
