Orienteering 1:08:35 [2] 4.01 mi (17:06 / mi) +90m 15:59 / mi

BFLO Map Hike at Sprague Brook. Knocked off about 10 or so controls, starting from the SE corner of the park, and doing a counter-clockwise loop. Wound up skipping 3 in the center of the loop, because of time constraint - we had to rush off to get to the stadium for the Bills' pitiful performance.

Running 1:00:00 [3] 8.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Running around at Sectionals. Distance is based on past GCC races. It's at least 1.5 miles to cover a race fully. The Addison boys ran first and ran well, with the top boy making states. Brenna ran in the third race, and was not far from making states, with a very nice race. After the break, our guys ran, and Zach had the race of the day! He finished second for our team and 38th overall. The seniors had a big third mile, and allowed us to beat everyone we could possibly have beaten. Checked out the Boys B race; Brighton was barely up at the two mile mark, but HF-L took it in the 3rd mile and Mendon grabbed 2nd by a point in a very exciting race.

The girls race was incredible. Very fast first mile, with Val and Amanda coming through in 5:43, and they were back in 7th and 8th (the last two state meet spots, assuming a Canadaigua win, which looked like a lock). Our boys, other than Will, came through in a very fast 5:30-5:34, so 5:43 was unreal, and they had a pack of girls running right behind them, clearly with the plan to stick with them as long as possible. Val and Amanda kept pushing, and by the two mile mark, there was only one girl still real close, as they came thru in 11:52. When they were doing the final loop, I was worried about Amanda, as Val has had a strong kick all year (well, all 3 years), but in a strange twist of fate, it was Amanda who hung on stronger when Karli from Churchville went by them. Very sad for Val, who is the fastest girl in the state that is not able to run next week.

Running 25:34 intensity: (14:00 @2) + (10:10 @4) + (1:24 @5) 3.35 mi (7:38 / mi)

Most of the workout at Schroeder - didn't do the first 200, and wanted to time the last 200. So, I did 200, 3 x 800, 200

41, 3:27, 3:22, 3:21, 43

The 200s were really tough - only because of my severely limited range of motion. I should have continued the strides throughout the season.

The 800s were surprisingly easy, running with the group. Many of the girls beat me on the first one, as they went too fast, but they said the others still felt easy.
