Golfing 10:00 [1]

Hit 80+ balls, plus did a bunch of chipping, at lunchtime, so I could be nice and sweaty for work this afternoon.

Running 25:40 [2] 3.11 mi (8:15 / mi)

Easy run after Zach's final career soccer game at Penfield (an away game much closer to home than most home games). He's going out on top as they needed a win to capture the 1st Division title, and a 3-0 win they got. It's sad that he's done after being with this team for five years, but playing high school sports, travel hockey and travel soccer is a bit too much for an 8th grader.

I planned to make a loop of the 1000 Acre Swamp trails, but thought it might be a bad idea to run there the day after Rob reported heavy FDF action at Mendon, and it was. I was starting to be bothered by the time I got to the parking lot, and I only made it a little over 1/4 mile farther before I couldn't take it anymore. Taking a few in the mouth was too much. I retreated and had better luck in the town hall trails.

Running (Strides) 2:06 [4] 0.34 mi (6:11 / mi)

6 strides on the soccer field after the run.

Running long 1:25:00 [2] 10.0 mi (8:30 / mi)
slept:6.25 (sick)

Wanted to get a long run in today, since I shouldn't do one Saturday, ahead of Monday's Mud Run, but I had XC camp. I ended up getting in about 48 minutes at camp, left a few minutes early, after the workout, to get to the end of Zach's soccer game (they won 4-0, meaning a win tomorrow night would give them the league title).

After Zach's game, I ran from the Basket Rd fields up to Kent Park for a loop, then back via Salt and 104, plus a bit at the fields to make sure I was over 10.

Running 53:00 intensity: (30:00 @2) + (11:00 @3) + (6:00 @4) + (6:00 @5) 7.2 mi (7:22 / mi)
slept:6.25 (sick)

At XC camp at Webster Park. Did a Kenyan Surge Drill workout (very mild variety) - we did 4 x (90s at T; 60s at I; 30s at R). The studs did a 5th one during a 60 minute run (we went with 5 minutes of easy running between the surges).

3 years ago, when I started coaching, early in the season there was only 1 kid on the team that could outrun me in a workout like this. This evening, 10 kids smoked me. I am not much slower than 3 years ago, so the team's improvement has been enormous (especially since this is still the preseason).

Running 1:20 [4] 0.25 mi (5:20 / mi)

4 strides.

Golfing 9:00 [1]
spiked:3/9c slept:6.0 (rest day)

Lousy playing led to an 8 and a 7 for a 47.

And I had to take the QC team out for a farewell lunch for one of them, so no chance for a workout today.

Other Sports (Two Man) 10:00 [1]
slept:6.0 (rest day)

Played two man for the first time in ages, but was still able to crush the ball (must be the golfing). Was flawless in the infield, but took a hot shot to the ankles when I ventured to the outfield for one inning. It was great having all of the brothers playing two man again. Plus Chelsea made her debut and the Cali twins were in, along with Walt.
