(rest day)

Spinning the legs.

Sunday May 7, 2006 #

Run 45:00 [1] 9.0 km (5:00 / km)

Orienteering 40:00 [4] 6.0 km (6:40 / km)

Sudden Tract score with the Gators. First we ran a short loop with 4 controls (sans contours), then the real deal for another 14. Very nice area some great contour detail. Felt speedy and ran hard, but slowed down when I needed to. A couple small mistakes, partly from unmapped trails. Maybe 1' total. Got Sudden by 15'' and the duke by 2-3'. Good run.

Cycling 25:00 [1]

Afternoon ride, errands. Awesome day.

Orienteering 2:10:00 [1] 13.0 km (10:00 / km)
shoes: Puma Trail

Headed out to the Niagara area for training today. Beautiful area in the Vinyards and rolling hills. First was the course Hans and Griz set for Easter at Rockway. The first part was just plain old good training. Big hills combined with classic escarpment. The second part on a base map, which I didn't know my starting location, scale, or direction of north!...so that started out as a relocation exercise and was a bit frustrating for the first while.

Then I headed out to Brock Uni to check it out to see if it was worthy of a sprint map. What an awesome area! The campus itself is smallish, but full of variety and it borders on the escarpment with some fantastic forest to be mapped. Maybe a 'Brock Rock O-Fest'?

Finally, my legs are back to normal and feeling great. Sometimes, active recovery is the way to go.
