Mid Atlantic Champs, Green: Didn't do great, didn't do terribly. Some confusion with trails - why do I rely on them? And the rocks, more rocks in reality than on the map. Feeling pretty pooped from the antibiotics, so as hughmac4 says, "good job just getting out there."
#4- trail confusion, lost significant time - earth to anniemac! but hi len!
#5- huh? what trail am i on?
#6- this is a spur?
#8- perhaps bad route choice, went on low trail instead of high, because again, trail confusion
#9- fast running down trail to try and lose kim (which i didn't,) and then ouch, i poked myself on lots of things :)
#10 chose upper trail, and this is where i really started to run out of steam. went too low to bigger boulder and had to correct. Back up the hill to the cliff of 11 which i had passed on the way down.
#12- bad footing and slight confusion, thinking i would be able to see control and stood right in front of rock scratching my head for a little bit.
#13- hardest one, terrain wise. so many rocks and steep descent, took me a long time and didn't feel confident in my footing.
#14- bashing through green, poke poke, branch caught my fingerstick string and wouldn't let go *insert expletive here.*
All in all glad I got out there today and I hope I didn't set myself back on the path to recovery too much. Interestingly this morning when I was thinking about how long this course would take me, and looking at previous year's results, I estimated almost the exact pace that I ended up doing! (I was thinking it would be rocky and steep, and I would be tired.)
Great to have all the family there and to see all the DVOA-ers rising to the challenge! And O M G the Bortz's new little puppy is the most adorable Akita I've ever met!
