Star Village Green. Arrived and Dasha noticed smoke coming out of my engine...uh oh. Got an oil change last week...something to do with that? After taking a look inside we noticed some yucky liquid all over the inside of the engine, so we (all the people involved at that point) thought it was overfilled or caps not tightened right. Oil level fine.
Went out on a pretty physical course, starting with a lot of pain and finishing with even more.
#1 - got confused by trails / contours competing for my eye and took a wrong turn
#6 probably hardest control - up and over or around? i went around but still had to climb some had some trouble finding the pit after wandering around...it seemed it should be much closer to permanent control marker which i was bearing from b/c I was too high.
In general, not too too hard navigationally but a little hard to read everything on the map without slowing down. Also, just a very physical course and was in a lot of pain and worrying about my car. But I had a good time with my comrades, and I saw a lot of deer and in every sighting they were going the right way to my next control. Maybe they were a Patronus charm?
After meet, car diagnosed by expert Nikolay who thinks it's a "bad boot" covered by grease, not oil. He and Dad cleaned off grease with lighter fluid, then water and paper towel, then we waited a bit for it to evaporate totally. Drove home the long, back way going slow just to be safe. Nikolay says he thinks it's a pretty expensive fix due to labor. I'm just glad nothing blew up on the way home. All this and my dad's boat is also messed up today, not a good day for Mac vehicles.
