Middle - Adams Creek - Brain was left in the Arena!

Hard to really process everything that's been going on in the last few days, but as far as orienteering goes...my first A meet...let's just say I finished and I was not last. Made some big fat mistakes on 3 controls - like doing a 180 (oh, my first one!) and in general, not going slow enough to be technically correct. It was a little disorganized. Also i read some contours backwards. oh my! I would say this was the hardest course I have ever done given my lack of sleep and mental fuzziness. BUT I had a great time, and the day was really really fun. There is always tomorrow. :)

Model Event training. This was very helpful for just getting me back in the mindset for orienteering but I have to say, my brain has left the building. I lost my cell phone and had an international team of orienteers helping me find it (I insisted they go back to their training, that I would find it eventually, but they insisted back...) Eventually we found it and I called it quits on the Pickerel Pond map. Went to 9/15 controls. Beautiful woods!!!

i haven't orienteered in weeks now. i feel so unprepared for competing at NAOC, my head is in a thousand other places. i guess i will just show up and have fun.

Walking my Dad around the halls of the hospital, where he has been since Thursday night. He told me to log this- apparently he gets up at 6am to do his "rounds" and does them 5-6 times a day despite having tubes coming out of his body! His positive attitude is so inspiring.

Tomorrow afternoon he is having surgery to fix a problem he's been having for a while that got a lot worse. Please think good strong healing thoughts for him (in between thinking thoughts about NAOC.)

college fields...around and around. at one point i tried to run in a heart pattern to see what it would look like on the track...didn't really work so well. guess it was the thought that counted, that was for you dad.
