QBIII - Day 2 at Malang
I was really looking forward to this challenge and Josh Blatchford's course setting was living up to it. - #3 - I lost 2 mins by scrambling along a rocky hillside and should have approached control from opposite direction.
#5 - slowish on long leg and struggled to work out top of the hill on my map but luckily came across a saddle and things made perfect sense again. Big sigh of relief. - #8 crap bearing cost me another 2 mins. ... when will I learn. - A few more small errors but overall very pleased with run and result. Won W45 :) - Great warm up for Swiss O-week.
QBIII - Day 1 at Brummagen Creek
Beautiful weather conditions for fun sprint event in fast terrain with some erosion gullies and 2 bridge underpasses. Only handicap were those vicious Tiger prickly pears that stung quite a bit and grass seeds that reminded us of Easter up in Queensland. 15 minutes racing time followed by 45 minutes of grass seed picking... - Started off slow and steady and caught up to Alison Inglis after which we had fun racing together. Very happy with run and was 2 mins ahead.
Herman Wehner's 90th birthday attracted local media and we all sang for him before he gave a lengthy interview. I want to be like Herman when I grow up. I probably have to reduce my alcohol intake to keep some brain cells as sharp as Herman's.
3 x 1 km efforts at Giralang oval: 4.39, 4:34, 4:30. Slight improvement from last week. Yeah. Another guy was doing his training in the opposite direction.
