Orienteer race 1:51:52 [4] **** 13.96 km (8:01 / km) +120m 7:41 / km
29c shoes: Montrail Vitesse 610

Batona 500 day 2 blue course. A grey day but no real rain (yet). Same goals as yesterday: conservative race, plan ahead, run smoothly. The best part is that I accomplished these (with some small errors) and felt good for the whole grind through the blueberries. Although the course was not very technical, there were a few dangerous controls (for my nav skill) but I identified them in advance and took them easy. Finished 19 of 32 in M21. The rain delayed our flight 3 hours going home but we made the best of it going over our maps, swilling micro-brews and watching football. This culminated an all-around great weekend. Thanks to DVOA !!

Orienteer race 1:02:13 [4] **** 7.5 km (8:18 / km) +105m 7:45 / km
shoes: Montrail Vitesse 610

Beautiful day to attend a superb event and run on a great middle course. I ran blue to maximize my o-experience after making the trip. I knew the relief would be subtle so my goal was a conservative race. I accomplished this and had a decent run as a result. I know of three 1 - 2 minute errors. That probably sounds bad but I was able to quickly relocate and the rest of my race was pretty clean. One nit is that I didn't plan my routes in advance but the current leg always required a lot of concentration and the micro-route choices through the blueberries was an unexpected brain drain. Finished 22 of 37 on M21.

Orienteer race 6:59 [4] *** 1.3 km (5:22 / km)
10c shoes: Montrail Vitesse 610

Sprint A race at Batona. Fun, easy, little sprint.

Orienteer race 12:55 [4] **** 1.8 km (7:11 / km)
12c shoes: Montrail Vitesse 610

Sprint B at Batona. Another fun, little (but not so easy) sprint. Or maybe it was easy and I was just cashed from the day's other races.
