Orienteering Meet race 1:39:23 [5] *** 7.0 km (14:12 / km) +340m 11:25 / km

Canadian long O champs. Well not such a good day, but a fun day running.
I messed up no. 4 when I could not tell a boulder on the map from a small square in the purple hatch marks. I headed north from the boulder thinking it was the building and drifted off course from there. From 8 to 9 I made a major parallel error that led me off the map oops. Tough course and the glasses were fogged up for me and others of course. Great weekend of O, excellent courses and organization.

Orienteering Meet race 36:37 [5] *** 3.2 km (11:27 / km) +170m 9:02 / km
ahr:159 max:180 spiked:12/13c shoes: Icebug black 2

Middle Distance event Canadian National Champs.
The first 7 controls were short and technical. Than a long leg through some green, which I made easier by taking the trail and heading south 500 meters.
A few short controls and my only mistake was to no 12 and a hell of a climb to get to the finish control. Lots of muddy feet coming back and some shoe sucking swamps,to go,through.
Another good placement. Ah hem 1st again. I just do what I do and accept my results.
So far excellent organization and maps and courses.

Training map. I went out with Bob and worked with him on his skills.

Orienteering Meet race 14:41 [5] 2.68 km (5:29 / km) +20m 5:17 / km
ahr:169 max:191

Canada's National Sprint Champs, at McMaster's University. Started and finished on the track. Lots of buildings to run around. Started in the wrong direction to no 2 and really did well after that mini mistake. Ended up in first in the 55-64 age group.
Passed up Bob who started 4 minutes before me and he was doing well but missed a control. bummer
