XC-Skiing race 2:00:50 [5] 32.28 km (3:45 / km) +345m 3:33 / km

City of Lakes Loppet, Minn. Great day with lots of folks racing. 900+ in the skate. The course weaved around hilly golk courses to start out and than weaved around some hilly parks finishing up on a couple of lakes for flat fast finish in Uptown. Pretty cool on the last K going along shops and looking through the glass windows to see where these skiers were coming up on me and motivating to not let any pass.
The course was fun, not too cold out and after a week of skiing I finally felt pretty stong. Ali C won the womens race, finishing 20th out of 900 skiers. Lots of top women were there and she wooped them all.

XC-Skiing race (SKI O) 40:26 [4] 8.69 km (4:39 / km) +5m 4:38 / km
spiked:11/14c

Ski O Loppet. The bus was late to the start and I thought I would have some time to get ready. Everyone else came off the bus in their ski boots and bibs. I was pressed for time to get ready and hence did not. I was miscompbobulated for the start. My map was not attached to the board, my dobber was not attached to my finger and my pole strap was messed up. So off i went with the map falling out ans because there was a plastic bag on the map and my hands cold, I cound not get it to snap right. I was last to the first control, and finally got my map with one of the three snaps locked down. The map was half insert for a couple of legs, which I did not figure out till the end of the race. After the first control all the numbers were upside down to me and lots of 2's were showing because the bag numbers all started with a 2. I ended up off to the right 150 meters to that control and it was no 7. Ok get my act together and on to no.3 which was behind a marsh on a trail junction. I though I could go straight to it, but no one else did, so back up to a trail Ali supposedly made and others used. I was caught behind a couple of slow classical skiers and just figured this was the way it was going to go today. But the next 11 controls were all pretty easy to get and i started skiing finally. Fairly simple course as the organizers of the loppet wanted the finish to be in town on the finish for all the other races for the weekend. So the Ski O organizers had to plan a fairly simple course on the lakes.
Great time and so many people skiing, snow biking, kids, dogs racing all over outside..what a blast!!!

ABR in Ironwood, MI. It has snowed ever since we arrived about 11:00 am yesterday. ABR was groomed in the AM, but it had about of 1 inch of fresh snow...what a great ski! Now the cold snap comes and we will probably take a rest/ travel day tomorow.

XC-Skiing 1:41:00 [3] 18.0 km (5:37 / km)

Wolverine Trail in Ironwood, Mi. It was snowing and blowing the whole time. Light snow on top of hard pack made for good glide. Nice trail system with a warming hut where we ran into this guy who knew us...used to race against him.
