running 10:00 [2]

Forgot my running shoes, so I tried to make do with a pair of shoes I had in my car for emergencies, but it just wasn't working. Barely ran a mile before my shins and feet started hurting.

strength/core 25:00 [3]

So into the gym I went, and worked on core and arm strength. push-ups, planks, glute bridges, bicep curls, tricep dips, bench press, and lat pull-downs.

running 28:00 intensity: (9:00 @1) + (19:00 @4) 2.5 mi (11:12 / mi)

No ride today, but I did get out for a track workout with Connie. 800 warm-up, then 4x800 intervals with 3 minutes easy between each. 4:18, 4:17, 4:12, 4:04. Didn't exactly plan on doing negative splits, but as I got more warmed up my legs felt better and it just sort of worked out that way.

swimming 30:00 [2]

Well, all three of us were healthy for a whole week, so I knew we were pushing our luck. Katherine now has another cold, complete with gunky eyes and a sore throat which is making her much fussier than normal. But the weather is improving, so hopefully as she spends more time outside and not cooped up in the disease factory, we'll be able to get more weeks of relatively good health. I was supposed to fly all afternoon today, but we came back early and I was on my way to change for a bike ride when one of my Petty Officers asked for some help with his swim stroke, so I jumped in the pool for an impromptu swim clinic instead. Got quite a few laps in as well, so overall a very nice workout, and the weather's supposed to be good all week, so maybe I'll get out for that ride tomorrow!

running 36:00 [3] 3.5 mi (10:17 / mi)

Beautiful day, and I just couldn't bring myself to stand around for 40 minutes as we (the command) played volleyball (badly). So I went for a run instead, 2x around the track as a easy-moderate warm-up (4:05) and then down to Mattapany, 2x around the loop there, with some ~1 min terrain intervals wherever I found nice woods. Debated cutting over to Pepperbush, but I didn't have bug spray and the ticks are already out in force :(
Mattapany was nice, though! Leaves and needles made the footing a tiny bit slick in a few areas (I was just wearing road shoes), but good agility practice and a confidence booster as I re-learn how to shift my almost back to normal (yay!) g-factor without having to worry so much about slipping and falling.
