orienteering 1:24:21 [1]
Short advanced course at Jug Bay. Orienteering today might not have been the best idea, as I was getting overheated just waiting for the start, but I (perhaps foolishly) decided to push through one last event for the season. Had plenty of trouble concentrating, and lost several minutes in errors on the way to 1, 2, and 3 (mindlessly jogging without paying attention to the scale so I overshot my attackpoint on #1, poor compass work to #2, failing to make/keep to a plan and then aimlessly wandering around on #3). Took a rest for a couple minutes to make sure I wasn't getting too overheated, then managed to not make too many errors through the rest of the course, although I was walking quite slowly. Definitely should have taken some water, and my sides started to cramp up between 6 and 7. Glad I only registered for a couple of the days during the French 5-days, and it seems that opting for the shortest advanced course each day was a good choice, but I'm certainly hoping that I'm able to remain a little more focused so I can at least minimize the time lost to silly errors.
