Cycling 1:18:44 [3] 32.1 km (24.5 kph)
shoes: Kermit

First group ride. Knew a couple of the riders (David F-S and Richard W) and the rest were generally friendly. Good mix of fitness levels. Kept to the back at first and took in what was expected, ettiquette and protocol. Required more awareness of what was going on around me in close proximity as well as anticipating what was happening up ahead with the traffic.
From Northbridge, up past Citywest, down to Lake Monger and out to Floreat before doing three laps of the Army precinct at Karrakatta. The faster ones did four or five laps before we all regrouped and headed back through Jolimont and West Leederville. Even small hills are a challenge at the moment but I'm sure it will get easier with time.
Very social and enjoyable but not an efficient use of training time. Including travelling back and forth (I piked and drove to the muster point) I got 80 mins cycling out of 180 mins total time. Will give it a few more weeks and see if I want to stick with it. Next time I will ride to and from the muster point.

Note
(rest day)

Circumstances are dictating that today is a rest day. (which means I got to lunch time and ran out of ideas on how to sneak some sort of training session into a busy day/evening)

Note
weight:77.8kg

New day for official weigh in. Not much of a drop, but a drop none the less. Still struggle to stay away from junk food. 11kg to go or there abouts.

Interestingly, I weighed myself last night, after dinner, just out of curiousity - 79.3kg. So overnight, the difference was 1.5kg. Amazing.
12 PM

Walking 22:35 [1] 2.1 km (10:45 / km)
shoes: Merrell Chameleons

Lunch time walk to get fooooood.
5 PM

Walking 35:00 [3] 1.6 km (21:52 / km)
shoes: Merrell Chameleons

donna2711 was home early and knee deep in cleaning materials, so after pitching in and using the vacuum cleaner (again!) and puttting on a load of washing, I decided the best course of action was to give the girl some space and clear out. Took the psychodog with me for once around the block, hoping to wear her out. Success! I can sleep easier tonight, instead of wandering whether she will be able to find a way to jump up on the bed and tear my throat out while I sleep.

Finished off the Kings Park loop at walking pace while I sorted out a work problem

Event: Yetar Spring

9 AM

Note

What a night! donna2711, defacto daughter Caris and I baby sat two angels while mum and dad went to a Tax Ball. OMG! Can you think of anything more diabolical? Well, someone must have played up there because they didn't get home until midnight. And something wrong when two ten year old girls fail to play up. Anyway, home we went, and in my haste to stop the nagging and get she who must be obeyed indoors, I forgot to lock the car. An hour later the local constabulary are banging on the door. Up I get and drag my sorry bum outside. Constable Care is saying they have my wallet and I discover my car has been ransacked. The culprit is in the back of the paddy wagon protesting. F*ck off!! I hope they did a cavity search with lots of sharp, ugly instruments. Can't say enough for the good service of the local police. Finally got to bed about 2.30am and plans for an early morning bike ride go out the window.
2 PM

Cycling 2:01:05 [2] 44.97 km (22.3 kph)
shoes: Kermit

After getting up about 9am and waiting for donna2711 to surface about 10am, donna2711, Caris and I head off to Aqwa as Caris had never been before. Lunch at Hilarys was nice in the sunshine and a gazillon people all getting their first taste of sunshine in months. Very nice wandering around the aquarium.
Then I convince the war office to let me cycle home to Belmont with a small detour, down the coast across to Karrakatta and KP and then down to the river and back via Burswood and Farmer Freeway. It was never going to be a slog, just enjoy the sunshine, all the people out in the parks, the river and the flaming divebombing birds.
Saw the first one in advance, climbing skyward to give himself more terminal velocity. Fortunately, by the time he'd done that I was past but the poor bugger behind me copped it. Despite being 100m ahead, I still heard the wack of claws on cycle helmet. I spent the next 10 minutes celebrating my good fortune until a butcher bird decided I was fair game climbing the hill on Alfred Rd. One attack and I thought that was it, but he kept at it for another 300m. How much territory is he trying to protect for crying out loud?
Despite that, a very enjoyable and relaxed ride. Next Saturday, I get to join a ride group for the first time. Should be interesting...
5 PM

Walking 35:00 [1] 1.6 km (21:52 / km)
shoes: Merrell Chameleons

Walk to the shop and back with donna2711, Caris and the psychodog - Chyna. Must have worn the old girl out (Chyna that is) because she retired to her basket and didn't even rouse for food that was offered. Shet is so much more enjoyable when she is not snapping and snarling (Chyna that is).

Note

As I was riding home on Sunday I could see a big pall of smoke hanging over the hills and wondered if it was the prescribed burn that DEC advised us of at the site of the Spring 12hr rogaine. The direction seemed about right and thought that was an awful lot of smoke for 10 corflute setting plates that were going up in flames... sigh
