shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212 (#7 Black)

NSW Long Champs - Saddleback
Brilliant granite - extended version of yesterday's map towards Mount Brown.

Was running late to the start (1km away) and halfway there and realised that I didn't have my SI stick. Got to the start as they called my name after having to run fairly hard. That proved to be good as I reduced leg 1 to mainly track run, then a good leg 2 (almost 100m climb), spiked 3, catching Freemo (still looking for 2) and Jamie.

Small mistake attacking 4 in control circle, then 5 just focussed on wrong feature and stopped short and discombobulated. Probably the worst mistake, maybe 1:20. Sloppy at 6 after a pretty good leg, Ok, but over-cautious to 7, then clean.

Tracy did 63 and I don't think anyone else cracked 70.

NSW Middle Champs "Pine Tree"
Open native forest with a LOT of granite.

Great fun, but a mistake riddled run. Lots of people out making mistakes, so finding controls was mostly not too hard.
May revise this after looking at the LiveLox, but:

#1 Can't remember, but ran to the group of rocks
#2 A bit of a soft route round to left of spur, but it avoided a lot of rock
#3 Drifted too far right (25s)
#4 Lost time here too - too far right again
#6 Brain fart, picked out the thicket, went round the bottom, then dropped 3 contours instead of 1 (1:41)
#7 Lost contact en route, spotted big tor, then regained contact just in time.
#8 Was on course for control, then decided I was on wrong line of rock (old eyes) and dropped down then back up. (1:00)
#9/#10 Catching Stix
#11 Pretty good leg, did climb early then v rough contouring, but still felt lucky to spike control
#13 How did I mess this up ? (1:14)
#18 Good leg, but hesitant to commit to control, boulders so big you don't want to waste 40s running round one.

Smashed by M20 and Jock, M50 was pretty scratchy today.
