Orienteering race 1:10:32 [4] 10.4 km (6:47 / km) +335m 5:50 / km

QOC Clopper Lake Blue - event director but snuck in the blue course starting ~10 minutes after the official end of the start window. Quite a nice run through mostly quite nice woods (lots of barberry out there in places but Nadim let us avoid the really bad places, for the most part), including the 'new' woods (visited at least once previously for a summer series event).

Unfortunate that Ken is also nursing a back complaint. Hope it doesn't develop into anything as enduring as Boris' difficulties.

Yoga 1:00:00 [1]

Saturday morning yoga at the library. Found out from one of the regulars that he's a friend of Sam Listwak's - apparently he reported that I'd been coming to classes wearing my QOC singlet and Sam had no trouble guessing which QOC member he had spotted.

Cycling 56:00 [3]

Riding to North Bethesda to pickup rental car for the weekend, in support of event directing Clopper Lake. Since I had car, went up to Cunningham Falls State Park and hiked/GPS surveyed the trail network on Bob's Hill, starting from the Manor Area parking lot.

Hiking 4:00:00 [1]

The aforementioned hiking, nearly alone on the trails. A bit cool and breezy but nice, sunny day. Too bad there's as much deadfall and mountain laurel as there is but the charcoal platform-rich slopes overlooking the Catoctin Furnace have a lot of good stuff despite those and the whole park could make for a good mini-rogaine - put a lot of controls in the technically interesting stuff for the orienteers, another lot scattered widely in less technically interesting areas for the adventure racers, and let those with speed, endurance, and good navigation skills puzzle over the optimal hybrid strategy.

Cycling 30:00 [3]

Trip to aquatic center and TPSS.

Swimming 21:00 [3]

MIx of strokes - easier stuff breaststroke alternating with 2 to 4 lengths of backstroke or front crawl. And 4 lengths of flutterkicking with a float board. Things that were unhappy in aftermath of resuming track workouts felt a little happier in aftermath of this.

Running 30:00 [2]

Warmup/cooldown/jogging rests.

Running 18:30 [5] 4.8 km (3:51 / km)

Finally felt good enough to go to a track workout again. 3x1600m (or is the Cardozo track a true quarter mile? - I forget) aiming for 10K pace, 5K pace, and as fast as possible on the last one. AFAP didn't feel, after over a month of no speedwork, didn't feel and wasn't all that fast but that should improve again if I'm more consistent.
