Orienteering race 1:29:19 [3] 9.8 km (9:07 / km) +340m 7:46 / km
(injured)

QOC Avalon Blue - took it easy because lower back/pelvis didn't feel up to any serious challenges and the footing was iffy with damp leaves under a thin layer of wet, new snow. Glad to have done this - almost always enjoyable running through a snowfall - but even gladder to have apparently done it without aggravating anything. I hope everything will feel fine in a few more days.

Cycling 40:00 [3]
(injured)

Since Dan didn't come to Avalon, rode to Silver Spring and back to meet David rather than take the bus. Felt sluggish on the ride there after two and a bit days of total inactivity.

Note
(injured) (sick)

Still sick, though less so. Appetite more of less returned by late afternoon. Annoyingly, went and strained something linking pelvis and lower back on my left side just puttering about the apartment.

Note
(sick)

Dan and I both caught something - likely either food-borne (steam table Thai Tuesday evening or what I made in the new slow cooker Wednesday) or from the family with sick one year old we visited Tuesday evening - and botrh vomited overnight or on waking then spent all of Thursday in bed with fevers and full body achiness, taking in nothing but liquids until evening (she had some oaty cereal; I had a banana, an apple and half a grapefruit). For me, aches and fever had dropped noticeably in intensity by late evening, which made it easier to mostly sleep through the night than I'd feared. Glad this doesn't happen too often.

Running 25:00 [2]

Getting to and from Crawlers track workout

Running 18:00 [5]

Crawlers track workout - 3200m consisting of 800 warmup, 1600 at 10K/5K pace, and 800 at 5K+ pace, then another 1600 at 5k+ pace. Cold again. First time I've been the fastest attendee at one of these, though attendance was only a little lower than normal.

Tuesday Jan 12, 2016 #

Note

No training - just walking from home to Rosslyn to meet Dan and a couple we know in the diplomatic corps for dinner and checking up on their slightly more than on year old son.

Running 11:00 [1]

Warmup and cooldown.

Running 32:00 [4]

Trail run in Rock Creek Park as the day was dying. Started later than planned so shorter than I'd initially thought I'd do today, Since rain cancelled the orienteering yesterday and I therefore missed the usual weekly harder run, did this at higher intensity than usual( though not quite O race intensity).
