Note

More course setting at Rosaryville, weather willing.

Snowshoeing 6:00:00 [2]

Rented a car and drove out to Rosaryville for the day to see how many new rootstocks had popped up in the last 11 months, particularly this past Wednesday. Fortunately, not many. Intensity 2 seems a bit much but intensity 1 seems too little given the snow depth and, once the day had warmed up a bit, weight and tendency to adhere in quantity to my snowshoes.

Note

By George 5K - race cancelled on account of snow.

Walked to pool in the morning for some DWR but hadn't reckoned with it being closed to the public for the Black History Month Swim Meet. Walked back.

Snowshoeing 2:10:00 [2]

Snowshoe hike in Rock Creek Park. Scenically splendid. Some ski, snowshoe and even pedestrian tracks but saw no humans or dogs, just a squirrel and a deer that seemed disinclined to run further away from me when disturbed than the bare minimum required for safety.

Snowshoeing 1:55:00 [2]

From work through Rock Creek Park until, not wanting to take until midnight to get home, I bailed out to 16th St at the Whittier Trail and walked the rest of the way home from there.

Cross Country Skiing 4:01:00 [2]

Another crack at the central part of the Gatineau trail network. Also spent a fair bit of time off trail hopping from beaver pond to beaver pond. Lovely stuff. Made it out to my rental car perhaps 15 minutes before it would have been too dark to see the trail. Which would have been ungood given I parked at P12 at the bottom of a massively long and rather steep downhill.

Not absolutely certain but today may have been the first time I ever skied from one end of Western Trail to the other
