Running 1:58:00 [2] 16.0 mi (7:22 / mi)
shoes: NB856

Early morning run to, from and on trails in Rock Creek Park. Would have done it later in the day but the afternoon plan was for a four hour long Taiwanese film.

Modern Dance 1:30:00 [1]

Another class with Deborah. Will have to last me a while what with the next two weekends out of town orienteering.

Cycling 1:20:00 [2]

Miscellaneous errand running. Saw Bunuel's "Belle de Jour" at the AFI.

Core exercises 8:00 [4]

Crunches, etc. while lazing the evening away watching "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets".

Running 1:32:00 [2] 10.0 mi (9:12 / mi)
shoes: NB856

Morning commute run in through Rock Creek Park. Rather cool out there.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Running 25:00 [1]

Warmup, cooldown and rest between repetitions.

Running 16:00 [5]

4x1100m on grass. Felt surprisingly good - rather wish I had splits for an objective perspective.

Cycling 1:16:00 [3] 15.0 mi (5:04 / mi)

Back to commuting and grocery shopping.

Core exercises 8:00 [4]

Some crunches, etc. while watching Lost and Alias. Had considered doing some running in the evening but felt tired and put upon by allergies.

Orienteering race 54:10 [3] 6.4 km (8:28 / km) +280m 6:57 / km
shoes: Surrey K100s

Middle race at Leith Hill - meltdown in the rain. The course was within my abilities through the first 9 controls but I was in over my head after that and had to slow down to deal with the combination of extreme contour detail, thick undergrowth and messy trails, many of which weren't considered distinct enough to map. Though my worst screwups were on easier legs (to 17 and 21) on which I relaxed, made parallel errors and had to relocate on major trails. Probably should have run a couple of minutes slower than Mike Smith. Totally awestruck at the remaining difference to the people who actually mattered in this race. Must go over routes and any commentary from medallists in the relatively near future.

Orienteering race 17:24 [5] 3.4 km (5:07 / km) +50m 4:46 / km

Sprint B final in Battersea Park - inexcusably overshot 6 going straight through the woods rather than to the trail to the south first, also let another runner pull me off course towards a women's course control on 13. Otherwise a respectable effort but that's a big otherwise and the competition was quite dauntingly fast and competent. Was amazed whilst spectating in the arena how many people, confronted with the leg from 17 to 18, aimed for the feature off the center of the circle to the NNE. Though I'll concede the circle isn't perfectly centered on the correct feature on the clean copy of the map the organisers gave me.
