Running 2:40:00 [2]

The most beautiful training run I've done in ages in Rock Creek Park with two or three inches of new fallen snow. Avoided the Valley Trail (the rockier sections would be dangerous even with studs), went north hugging the creek, then the loop uphill around Fort DeRussy, crossed the creek and did a loop on the Pine Branch Trail before recrossing and retracing my steps.

Note

Spent most of the time from 10am to 5pm at the QOC booths at both the Adventures in Travel and NBC4 Health and Fitness Expos at the new Washington Convention Center. I believe this will turn out to have been quite productive of new orienteers but time will have to tell on that.

Got the call from Greg Lennon late in the evening that Little Bennett park management had decided to close the park on Sunday on account of the predicted snow and a lack of budget to plow the park roads

Form exercises 40:00 [3]

The usual bum kicks, A's, B's, 8x100m strides, bounding and 2x20 two-legged vertical leaps, plus warmup and cooldown jogging.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Cold but I dressed for it. Left calf is feeling less fragile.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Back on the roads - icy patches are now sufficiently few and far between to avoid.

Form exercises 40:10 [3]

The usual sans strides - didn't seem like a good idea on a thin layer of wet snow on grass.

Core exercises 6:00 [4]

Note

Reminder - time to reserve ticket for "Black Caesar" at the Library of Congress (70's blaxploitation with soundtrack by James Brown - hard to go wrong).

Running 55:00 [3] 6.75 mi (8:09 / mi)

Run home with food shopping along the way. Left calf still bothering me (as of Sunday's orienteering). The streets look okay for cycling tomorrow so maybe I'll be able to avoid impact enough for whatever it is to get better.
