Running 7:00 [2] 1.0 km (7:00 / km)

Jog to start. For the second day in a row, the next minute they called after I arrived at the start was only one minute before my start time - need to cut these things a little less fine.

Orienteering 1:04:50 [4] 8.48 km (7:39 / km) +305m 6:29 / km

Ontario Champs Day 2 - felt better running, lost about a minute on 4 by not being careful enough aiming off to the trail before the control, maybe 30 seconds on 7 with some mid-route wandering, about that again on 11 by overshooting too low and, embarassingly, about that much once more on the go control by just not reading the map enough. Felt like a better day physically, the previous one having felt merely okay, but other people must have improved technically or physically or both as I believe I finished sixth.

Running 12:00 [2] 2.0 km (6:00 / km)

Clothes (and my car keys) not having come to the finish yet, I jogged to the start, passing them en route, and back again - had to stay warm somehow.

Note

Ontario Championships.

Running 8:00 [2] 1.2 km (6:40 / km)

Run to start/warmup.

Orienteering 1:41:48 [4] 12.08 km (8:26 / km) +380m 7:17 / km

Ontario Champs Long Course - slightly over 2 km second leg, lost about 1.5 minutes on 6 in a parallel error, about 1 minute on 13 with a not quite solid attackpoint and about 30 seconds on 14 by second guessing myself. A solid run otherwise with a few places where hindsight makes me suspect I could have done better routes. Fourth on the day.

Note

Off to the Eastern Canadians and Canadian Thanksgiving with my sister, etc. in Aurora. Having received the current entry list for the Short and Long Champs from the BAOC A meet group, concern over the effect of low numbers of F21 entries this weekend on the NAOL point standings may have been greatly overblown - BAOC only has 2 F21 runners entered so we may well have a lamentable case of mutual disarmament on our hands.

Note

No hard workouts planned for the remainder of the week - the Eastern Canadians this weekend rate a taper. I haven't run the numbers but, having seen the start list, the country NAOL result may not be a foregone conclusion after all. With only four W-Elite entries, Canada may well leave enough points unwon to give the US a chance.

Modern Dance 2:30:00 [1]

Two classes with Nejla in a row, Carla having ceded her slot so Nejla could make up some lost time. I'd log it as the usual intensity 2 but the last hour was much less strenuous once Nejla started stringing choreography together to construct the beginning of the piece. A fair bit of standing around while she explained what she wanted. And pondered what she wanted.

This should have addressed any stiffness from the weekend - dance is certainly good for working one through a full range of motion.
