Running 2:33:00 [2]

Usual long trail run in Rock Creek Park, i.e. at this time of year, a total drenching (in sweat even if rain doesn't oblige as it did late in this run). Have finally got smart and started taping my nipples before doing these - it would be almost impossible to overstate how little fun it is rubbing them raw whilst simultaneously saturating the fabric overlying them with salt.

Cycling 1:50:00 [2]

Pursuant to a QOC mapping committee request for suggested areas to map, I decided to finally check out Fort Dupont Park. Slightly insane - I imagine an area would have to be downright awesome to draw anyone to orienteer in Southeast DC - but I did it anyway. The area would actually be pretty good if perhaps slightly lacking in point features but it needs to have a fence built around it and a very large number of goats penned inside for several months before there's any hope of it being pleasant to run through off the trails. Someone will have to check back when gentrification manages to cross the Anacostia River - ought to take at least a decade or so and maybe by then the vegetation will have changed for the better.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Warmup for dance class.

Modern Dance 1:30:00 [2]

Class with Deborah. Another two weeks before Dance Place's annual shutdown so I'd better get the classes in now.

Running 29:00 [1]

Warmup, cooldown and rest between intervals.

Running 9:10 [5] 3.0 km (3:03 / km)

Decided to mix up interval distances a bit and do something closer to true sprinting/R intervals as Vlad would have them. 6x~500m (measurement only by pacecount so not to be trusted overmuch) on grass in about 90 seconds apiece (varying between somewhat over and somewhat under as there is a noticeable elevation change from one end of the course to the other). Took splits but they aren't handy at the moment - was allowing a hair over equal time to rest between repetitions. Maybe I ought to increase that to absolutely full recovery.

Cycling 33:00 [3] 6.5 mi (5:05 / mi)

Half a commute. Left bike at work and took Metro downtown in the evening.

Running 28:00 [1]

Warmup, cooldown and rest.

Running 16:28 [4] 4.4 km (3:45 / km)

4x1100m intervals on grass. Took these somewhat easier than usual but I think usual may be too hard and my muscles weren't about to cooperate with more speed anyway. Would have splits but experienced a watch operator malfunction - hadn't done this in long enough I forgot which button on my relatively new watch is for taking splits.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Commute.
