Running 50:00 [4]

Running from work in Kensington mostly down Connecticut Avenue to Cleveland Park. Meant to do a longer run through Rock Creek Park but got hung up in Kensington longer than originally intended and would have run out of daylight.

Cycling 30:00 [3]

To the library then to the Kennedy Center running errands. My bike seemingly reached some sort of tipping point while locked outside the library - it became clear when I left that my drivetrain had made a transition between utility if not ultimately pleasurable riding and skipping enough to be a royal pain in the ass. Differential thermal contraction of part of the drivetrain after being outside a while versus indoor temperatures? In any case, I made time for a side trip to my favourite local bike shop and will be wheelless for at least a week.

Running 26:46 [1]

Warmup, cooldown and easy running between repetitions.

Running 16:16 [5] 4.4 km (3:42 / km)

I intervals of, for argument's sake, 1100 m - not my most evenly paced effort with splits of 3:56 4:04 4:07 and 4:09 but at least I felt good enough this time to finish the planned workout rather than bag it 300 meters into the first repetition. Will have to move up to doing five of these sometime soon before I get too fond of doing only four of them.

Note

A rest day - some strenuous for the upper body cleaning but I can't see calling it O training.

Rain starting just after I crossed the railway tracks 100m from my office. Cold rain this time. Continuously until I got home (after which I no longer cared, provided it stopped before dawn). At least the wind was at my back most of the way home. Took a few minutes after I got home to get full feeling back in my fingers.
