BikeCommute 10:00 [2]

45-50F today, and neck hasn't bothered me in many weeks (last recorded minor discomfort was in early November), so couldn't resist gingerly trying my first biking since Sept 19. Felt ok, minor tightness in calves. Have now scheduled mri and circulation appts for a few weeks from now. I will monitor neck and back closely. I have been doing traction about every other day for a week now

Gym.
This afternoon i went to dr. salata again to assess the calf recovery. Explained that i am on 6 weeks recovery from last relapse (which was 6 weeks after previous relapse). Since there hasn't been real improvement (and i keep feeling these 'impending' tightnesses in both calves), we now have to investigate weird possibilities. They appear to be vascular constrictions, some sort of spinal constriction, something else in the calf itself, and then (going further out on the limb) 'compartmentalization syndrome'. To investigate these i am cleared to schedule a meeting with a vascular guy (check if clogged vessels are preventing proper flow there, which is possible for a high cholesterol guy and of broader concern), MRI on spine, MRI on calf. If those are all negative, then the uncomfortable test for compartmentalization (needle to measure intramuscular pressure, then exercise until cramped, then remeasure). In general, this means ruling out as many possible weird causes as possible.
He also said that there probably is no harm is trying to run again - we've seen that it must not just need more healing time. I will try that before scheduling the MRI, though I think i will get the vascular checkup on general principles
