BikeCommute 45:00 [2]
slept:7.0

saturday trip to school to get a forgotten book, and to ID some sphagnum (palustre and girgensohnii).
This morning and most of today had much reduced neck/back/arm pain. When riding the bike this week I really felt discomfort in the neck, and had some real flareups. I wonder if the riding caused shortterm problems but helped in the longrun.

Natural History 1:00:00 [0]

Identifying sphagnum in the lab.

Strength 15:00 [1]

Still can't do pushups because of shoulder/neck

nice day again, after school to metlin to talk with davek- good ideas

Natural History 1:00:00 [1]

With Tony and Katy to BNP in the buttonbush swamp n of bath pond to hunt sphagnum and thuidium. 50F, snow was melted on grasslands, but down here it was still thick and wet. Found a good stripe of sphagnum at northern edge of pond, within about 15m of pond edge, perhaps 50m in length. Found just a few thuidium (was most of it buried?) further north and closer to the edge of the wetland. Sunny, and fun

too icy out to bike, snuck this in before school. Neck again unhappy with biking posture. This became stronger throughout the day - lots of soreness.

Great to be back on the bike! Lots of melting and some areas made me a little uncertain about potential slips on residual ice, but still nice. But neck was not too happy with looking up.

XC ski 30:00 [2]
slept:8.0 weight:186.5lbs shoes: Salomon Escape 7 Pilot

5" heavy snow this AM, but by midafternoon the temp topped 30 and it will keep going up for the next few days. President's day at school, so stayed at home. Went down to oxbow and tried to do some photos in the bright sun (no real shots), then did some laps without poles just to get some sort of exercise in.

can't use poles but some fresh light snow, so I went down to memorial towpath and worked on improving kick. Also a little one-ski work which was harder than it looked.
