Octagon/Ritchie Ledges red course, our first epunch for red and green. Since I had helped vet 4 of these controls it was a very different experience - for those controls i could just run flat out and barely consult the map. That was illuminating, since i really couldn't read the map in the woods if i had wanted to at that speed, and even in open yellow areas it was hard to do. Naturally, after pushing the first 3 controls I made a big mistake on one of the next controls (5): parallel error, even though the road was not parallel to the one i was looking for - lost about 3minutes. I blame oxygen debt, though it's probably more a result of bad navigation. Looking forward to comparing splits online.
Lots of people today, beautiful fall weather, and good volunteers.

Yoga videotape for back flexibility and strength. This might be helpful, but i'm not sure I can learn it this way, nor that i have the patience to do it.

CFalls Natatorium 5K. Though feeling better than yesterday, not up to snuff at all - nose clogged, lots of sniffling and coughing. Almost decided not to go, but eventually did. Right to start line felt very unprepared. First mile was near my goal, but about there i didn't have enough in the tank to keep up that pace, and though i didn't feel like i was slowing (i was maintaining position with those near me), i clearly did slow. Could have been a lot worse. My guess is I lost at least a minute to the cold

Tony F needed some help confirming a few control points at the octagon, so i spent the afternoon hiking around with him to do that. Beautiful woods today!
