Control checking at Ritchie. Forgot that this map printout doesn't have the white course, so i'll have to do that another day. Mostly checking in the rocky areas, discovered i need to do some revision.

This morning woke with a stiff neck, which gradually got a bit better. Not sure of the cause. One possibility is my increase in biking. So i didn't bike today and did traction. Since resuming biking a few weeks ago i have been doing traction that day, but no more. I may need to ramp that up

Panzner AM (20F, clear and beautiful) about an hour (birds abundant), then walked the circle plots for half an hour (no flowers anytime soon!)

Beautiful afternoon near 45F, sunny, spring break, so quit work early and vetted some controls at Ledges. Felt so wonderful to run through open woods. Navigation was fine, although the map is dodgy in a couple of spots in the SE. And there are several rustic lean tos that have emerged since i was last out that way.
No calf problems at all (but this was pretty low intensity, much like the 3 on 1 off i've done lately, but with more off as i checked locations).

Beautfiul day, 60s - in shorts, and most snow is gone. Ran mostly on devil strip - 3 to 3.5 on, 1 off. Felt good.

BNP - From station to bog and back - checking some woody stem scores in the plots. Still full snow cover except on road. Crust supported me until i was in the woods and bog, then broke through to mid calf consistently - like stairmaster in effort. Pretty good workout

Met DaveK at Seneca GC for 1:30 PM Ski. A bit slushy and slow, but really cool site. Probably near the end for a great skiing year.

BNP - Collecting ibutton thermo sensors from bog. Walked with Aaron Baumgardner along icy road and trail, then through calf to knee deep snow most of the way, through the thick veg of the bog. pretty good workout. Day warmed to 30F

XC ski 45:00 [3]

BNP, along icy roads with double poling, and looped through oil cut at bog. Mostly hardpack, but footprints made it rough when not in tire tracks.

BNP. - very weird conditions. Drizzle and above freezing two days, but teens last night. So a in some places a half inch of crust over soft powder, in others hard crust, in others frozen and painfully slender tracks. That was hard to deal with, but then on the roads the tire tracks had become glassy ice, which gave a real rocket ride when double poling, even up slight hills. So, after a trip to the bog mostly double poling in ruts (fast!), , looped around to grandview and did a few laps of double poling there. Hard to really work out today, but interesting and fun.

Snowshoeing along margin of bath pond. Really hard - along the wetland the crust was variable, and when thin I dropped up to a foot in - almost like i wasn't wearing snowshoes. Then I had to pull the shoes up through the edges of the crust. Then on the next step the crust was firm.

Kendall lake. Packs of snowshoers and wet rain/snow made for less than ideal conditions (poor glide, some icing), but there were some good moments on this gloomy day
