Night O Score at Manatoc. DaveK outlined a course out of the controls, and we did them. Confused at several points by tomorrow's controls, which had the same numbers as some of ours. Tons of scouts scurrying in every direction - lots of fun.
KIendall pickup. pretty clean run, but again, at about 45 minutes started to run out of steam, so did more walking (partly because I had a big bag of controls). Again hottish and humid, which sapped energy well. But felt so good to run in the woods! Full coverage with Haeckelia and a few Desmodium fruits again. saw only one lobelia, no MR (north central stream channel near workyard)..

Peninsula Python Goat. Great day, great course, and great turnout (about 20 on each of the 3 goat courses, many from WPOC, MI, OCIN). I did the 'nannygoat', or middle because i am not in good enough shape for the 10k. Good choice - i did well the first 50 minutes, and then had to walk a lot more and made some navigation mistakes. Unfortunately i ran almost the whole thing alone - no one was even near me on the way to control 1, and then i never saw anyone else on my course (though I did bump into a few folks in the first half of the BillyGoat). Skipped #4, which was an ok choice, but on reflection skipping 2 was better (but would have meant a long road run, which is boring).
I was distracted by many things (event director had to leave at noon and wanted me to take over, family responsibilities for afternoon, bob's rolled ankle which means I need to pick up some slack, control pickup, and protecting the stitches on my nose).
But it was a great day in the woods, and a really fun course with nice setting. Great to see so many friends - wish I had time to talk with them more.
