US Champs Long at Red Rocks Canyon in the Mojave Desert. The official distance was 5.6k.

Another so-so day. This is definitely not my favorite type of terrain, but it was interesting and beautiful, in its own way. I was off a bit on a few controls, but nothing disastrous. It was pretty simple navigating...you just had to be a good runner.

On the way back to LA, Mary and I stopped at the In-and-Out Burger in Lancaster. There was a long line for the drive-thru, but we were eating in. We were both In-and-Out virgins, and were looking forward to seeing what all of the fuss was about. Well, we never found it. It was an average burger and not great fries. So, now we can say we tried it and never have to try it again.

Brown X - Long - Splits

US Champs Middle at Vasquez Rocks. Official course distance = 2.9k

This was a lot of fun. The rocks were very intimidating before we started...I was a little scared. But it wasn't too bad once you were in it. I just got too low on two controls and paid the price of having to climb. And when you're out of shape, that's a pretty steep price.

It was sooo much fun to hang around afterwards, though, in that beautiful scenery, with incredible views and so many good friends to catch up with. Truly a spectacular afternoon!

I completely went the wrong way to #1 and #7, and was just slow in general. It was fun to see everyone and the weather was beautiful.
