US Masters Champs, Day 2. I started out so well. Mary and Peggy both started before me and I caught up to them at #3 and #4. And then I fell and smashed my right knee. Not the replaced one, so that was good. It really hurt when I did it, and I knew right away it was going to be a bad one. But I was doing so well, so I kept going.
Mary and I took different routes to #5, but I still saw her to #6, 7 and 8. From 7 to 8, I wanted to get away from her, so I took a different route choice and it proved to be not great. She beat me into 8, but I saw her heading to #9, which helped me find 8. And then I never saw her again. By this time, my hamstring and butt muscle were hurting, too, and I had to go very carefully downhill.
I hobbled into the finish and tried really hard not to cry. It as just so disappointing after having had so much fun yesterday. Today was definitely not as nice running, but the navigation was more challenging. It turns out that I still came in second to Pavlina again...who should be running in F60! So that was a bit of a silver lining, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to see a doctor this week.
The whole weekend was so much fun! Staying with Mary and Mike, Brooke and Lisa Carr, with frequent guest Cristina, was the highlight! I'm so glad I decided to make this detour on my way home to Colorado.
