Orienteering 47:38 [4] *** 4.61 km (10:20 / km) +95m 9:22 / km

Ok, today went much better. I felt like I was running well and hitting almost all of the controls right on. I had a few driftings on 3 controls, but nothing too major. However, one of them was enough to let Sharon slip by...rats! The course was one of the most enjoyable I've run in quite a while.

Orienteering 26:08 [4] ** 2.62 km (9:58 / km) +75m 8:44 / km

Despite a rather dismal showing on the first day of an orienteering weekend, I had fun. The course was fun and it was nice weather. I had some pretty bad bobbles at a few controls and that pretty much ended everything. And, by the way, I'm not a particularly fast runner.

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Of course, had planned on a run today but it never happened. A load of plants appeared on my doorstep and I had to get them in the ground before they died. So, hopped on the trainer while watching the season finale of "Grey's Anatomy." OMG!!

Orienteering 59:51 [4]

I ran the Blue course at Fountainhead but had to DNF because I lost a contact lens coming out of #8. A branch just dipped into my eye and whisked the lens out. I tried to fish around in my eye for a few minutes to see if it had just been moved around, but no. And, since I'm fairly blind without correction, I decided not to take a chance at getting hurt for next weekend. I had been doing quite well up until that point...running well and finding all the controls pretty much straight on. And, my ankle didn't hurt too badly, so I felt that DNF'ing was acceptable. I had already found out what I wanted to know.

Running (Trail) 25:26 [3]

Running back to the finish from where I stopped on the course.
