West Point National meet
Took time simply to find the start triangle and was sketchy/careful to #1 and #2. Found #3 just fine and was slow up the hill to #4, but clean. Took the "high road" to #5 - physical, but safe. Saw Sam Listwack in the saddle between the two hills; found #5, but had trouble approaching due to downfall. #6 was easy, but as I feared #7 was tricky and I lost a good bit of time. Didn't want to go around to #8 so I "followed" Sam to the saddle; thought about doglegging back to #6 and taking road, but went for saddle; then when I went downhill, I kept getting pushed right and ended up near road anyway, but with four extra contours for my trouble; ran road and then took "uphill" approach past #9 in; overall took too long, but it could have been worse. After that, it was pretty straighforward, but I did find the deepest part of the stream on the way to the GO control.
Time wasn't good, but considering training - both physical and mental, I'd say I came through "okay".
