I ran with a guy who described the hills as "soul crushing." I think that's pretty accurate.

Finished 95. Learned a few things, met a bunch of people. Having a pacer was awesome and made me run WAY faster than I thought I could. I was originally aiming for somewhere around 10 hours. Not really sure about the official milage/elevation since they changed the course the night before!

Conditions were ridiculous. I heard more than a few people comment that it was like a sadistic tough mudder. Soaking wet the whole time, and so much mud a few people went penguin sliding down the big hills. Coming up the hill out of Muir Beach you'd take 2 steps forward and slide back 1 and 1/2.

Overall stoked with how I did. I had a ton of fun and I want to do another, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for Western States yet. I think I need some more milage.

And now, let the climbing season begin...

Worst fucking run ever. CKHill to Arden.

Foggy day, not happy to begin with. Started out okay, feeling kinda bad, but figured I'd get over it. Hit the hill behind CK and just died. Walked some of it. Felt totally drained physically. Probably should have eaten something other than crackers this morning. Got to the top and didn't feel like I was recovering at ALL while running the mild downhill.

Jumped the fence behind the water tower, slipped on pine needles and ate it, rolled down the hill. Lame, but I still felt pretty good because I fell on my left hip and only my right hip is badly bruised and missing skin from this weekend. Jumped the fence in front of the water tower and ate it again, this time on rock and solidly on my right hip. Also sliced and diced my right hand and right calf and blood was all over the place. Sat down because I couldn't walk for a while. Pretty angry at myself for fucking up so hard twice in a row.

Ran the rest of the way back, but wasn't having any fun at all at this point. Also realized that I partially tore the sole off my left shoe. Dammit.

I'm pretty worried about the race this Saturday... Going to load up on 1500mg paracetamol, crank the dubstep and finish my homework for the week, then eat some food and sleep a lot.

Blindfold treadmill race visualization.
Feeling pretty good mentally, and not too sore physically. Starting to get kinda excited.
