Warm-up for both days of Boulder Dash

Orienteering race 1:27:50 [3] **** 7.52 km (11:41 / km) +160m 10:33 / km
spiked:8/17c shoes: Falcon

1st day of Boulder Dash. Had some problems orienteering to th event site, so arrived at the start just as they were calling me up. That, however, caused no problems. The woods were really thick and one had to keep track of where they were pushing you. Had no errors exceeding 2 minutes, but could only record 8 real spikes. To #1 I was pushed to the left of my intended line but recovered quickly, not losing more than 30 seconds. To #3 I was running parallel to a kid who could not have been more than 16. Was going on the right line to the control but decided that the kid new better and went way too low. About 1.30 lost. To #4, I noticed the trail route only in the middle of the leg. The woods were crappy, so I assume that I lost at least 1.30. To #6 went to the left of the rootstock before the control and had to come back to get the control - perhaps 15 seconds. To #7 I only saw the left trail route, which seemed too much out of the way with unnecessary climb. Took pretty much a straight line but lost my direction in the bland area in the middle and ended up east of the control. Clearly, the right trail would have been better. 2 minutes lost. To #9 I was going too high on the hillside, recognized that but still had to come back to get the control. 30 seconds lost. To #10 did not understand why some cliffs before the control were not mapped, got pretty confused there. 1.30 lost. To #11 got pulled to the left of the line by an English guy. Spent some time thrashing through the green. 45 seconds lost. To #14 hit the trail, but thought I was further south on it, so kept running north until it was too late and had to add some unneeded climb. 1.30 lost. All in all 10 minutes lost, but I was feeling well physically (for my standards) and only lost 15 minutes to the winner, which is a pretty good achievement for me.
