Nice relaxing run except running the road out of the dam up to Bungendore was a bit much, managed to find my way to the northern end of the park for the first time and found my way back nicely except the bit where I was heading west then the track turned back to the north, so doubled back. Then took the "Steep descent" and ignored "use W2 track", so did an unnecessary slow downhill and back up that I could have just run around.

Started off nicely working our past lots of riders early then sitting in a reasonably stable group up to Mundaring Weir Rd. Somehow managed to catch tRicky and Co. Not far before Canning Rd, joined their roll throughs for a while but dropped to the back once that became unsustainable.
Then it started raining and with my contact lens getting pretty wonky and blurry we eased off a bit to avoid so much crap in my eyes (I forgot to wear clear glasses to start and they are normally pretty useless once the rain gets going anyway).
Got to the first lunch stop at Wungong Dam sometime after tRicky and Co. unfortunately the took off whilst I was using the facilities, so we headed out by ourselves and stayed mstly by ourselves in and out of Canning Dam with a solo rider joining us on and off. Onto Albany Hwy a couple extra guys who kept riding off the front so we kinda had a group of 5.
Just before Jarrahdale Rd some more riders caught us and we had a pretty good group going along Jarrahdale Rd till I blew another spoke. Got it out and we got going again pretty quick, but we were on our own again.
Luckily tRicky and Co. had a nice long break at the second lunch stop at Serpentine Dam, so we headed out with them and quite a few others. Joel kept riding off the front instead of rolling through but I couldn't go with him so he did a bunch of work for nothing. Once onto the flat tRicky and Co. did a pretty big chunk of the work as far as I could tell from way back in the pack where I was stuck.
Onto the freeway the group was still pretty big, things going quite nicely till Joel cramped just when we were about to be on the front, luckily he recovered quite quickly and we got back on the back of the group and sat there for ages. Pretty hard work staying on from Farrington with all the slow sections and fast accelerations and I was stuck right at the back behind 3 others who kept yoyoing, but I couldn't get up onto a more reliable wheel.
Eventually I popped just after Canning Bridge with about 6km to go and I was on my own struggling to do 26kph till Joel eventually stopped and waited at Mill Point Rd.
Joel decided to not take the proper route along Mill Pt Rd and we just road the bike path along the river (oops).
Before the ride I thought we'd probably take something like 9hrs, so very surprised to get under 8hrs and to manage to hold team tRicky and Co. for a fair chunk of the ride and to finish 27th out of 365 starters.
tRicky and Co. finished 6,7,8,9th. Very well done and thanks for all the work you guys did.
