Running race (MetrO - Swanbourne) 41:13 [5] 8.25 km (5:00 / km)

Headed out to the east from the start, following Wil and ShotRat. Wil dropped back around the northern side of the golf course and ShotRat disappear off ahead going north out of 9, I guess he went to 27 whilst I went to 11.

Saw Wil up ahead going to 21 and followed him out to the western side, jumped in front of him at 6, then we took opposite ways round to 7 which Wil got to first then we went different ways again.

By myself till I saw Rachel heading for 1 just in front of me, so went hard to punch right behind her and I put in a quick sprint to get past as we got back onto the playing fields, luckily Rachel let me go as I probably couldn't of held the sprint the whole way. Just scrapped in ahead tRicky (XPD recovery run) and a bunch of others, but some sneaky kid was a couple of mins ahead of us all.

Very happy with the run and good to see some (mostly) close competition.

Darling Downs to Claremont

Nice easy ride today. Weary of aerial attack on Rowley Rd, but there were no hostiles in the area.

Min. effort heading up the freeway, cars were stationary from Rowley Rd at least through to Armadale Rd where there was a lane closed (hehe, silly drivers).

Eventually got sick of having a guy in black in my sights for a loong time without really closing the gap at all, so quickly chased him down after Armadale Rd, just caught him at Berrigan and he turned off. Luckily Mr Yellow who I'd just passed tagged on after I eased off a bit. So ended up having a chat with him through to the narrows, he was 2/3rds through a 4 hr ride, training for NZ ironman and he's nearly 60. Worked out nicely for maintaining minimum effort/HR, although a bit frustrating letting people gentley pootle past.

Claremont to Darling Downs

Some speedy bastard picked me up on the back street right behind work, so when he went past as we turned onto Princess Rd, I jumped on behind. He dropped me through a couple of roundabouts as I slowed for traffic, so I went after him hoping to get some protection heading south. Finally caught him at the crossing under the narrows and he turned the wrong way.

So then I had to work a lot harder than ideal heading south into the pretty healthy seabreeze. Until someone passed me at Fiona, so I got a short tow till he turned off near Roe Hwy, so more work down to Rowley before a brief internal debate to decide whether to finish hard or finish properly. Properly won out, so I eased off and cruised home, with a brief resumption of aerial attack on the way.

Note
(rest day)

Was all organised and ready to go for a paddle whilst Ryan was at Kindy. But he'd been a bit lethargic all morning, veging out on the lounge and halfway to kindy he wasn't looking too good and wanted to go home. So no paddle today and ski is still on the car, so maybe a paddle on Sat. instead.

BB and I were joined by Jake coming off a short break and Chris coming out of hibernation.

Jake and BB did most of the work. I mainly took 3rd wheel with one or two turns up front and Chris sat at the back to ease back into it.

Pace was up a bit, legs feeling it a bit more than they have recently.

Note: driving in this morning, my little friend along Rowley Rd may have sat in the middle of the road, and may have gone under the wheels and may not be a problem when I ride on Friday, or he may be really angry, maybe.

Running (Kings Park Hill reps) 59:07 [4] 9.79 km (6:02 / km)

Met Wil and Ann again at Sticky Beaks for more of the same sandy track up to the DNA tower as last week.
3 reps no particular plan

5:26, 5:38, 5:38

Ended up going nearly hard the first, then Wil dedcided 2nd would be hard 1st quarter, then normal 2nd quarter, hard 3rd quarter, then normal to the top. Final rep similar but normal, hard, normal, hard.

I really don't like this hill, I think it's just too long and soft and sandy for me to be able to put in a hard effort all the way, it's really more of a plod all the way up. Maybe I just haven't worked out how to run it properly.

Running long (Kings Park) 1:35:04 [3] 15.01 km (6:20 / km)

Long slow easy run.

First morning run in Kings Park for quite a while.

Managed to pad out just the right distance, but a bit slower than the planned 6min k's, but I did maintain my desired level of effort. Need a new chest strap so I can see if I'm anywhere near the planned 140bpm.

Mtn Bike (Pickering Brook - PBGS) 2:46:57 [3] 35.63 km (12.8 kph)
shoes: Scott Spark 60 2011

Fun morning following BB around seemingly random tracks.

Covered some familiar sounding names like whore no more, Gungin, camel farm. Spent most of the time being crap through the rocky twisty bits and falling behind BB until he waited for me to catch up. Need to spend a lot more time practising on the MTB, but I just don't really have time.

Eventually got outside to do some work around home after lunch. Finished off some bits of fencing, just need to put a gate next to the house once I work out how to avoid the retic pipes, water pipe, down pipe and anything else buried around there. Also mowed the lawn although my mower's taken up fire breathing, so it's off to the mower shop tomorrow for it's first check up in a lot of years.
