Running (Home - hills - home) 2:31:35 [3] 24.02 km (6:19 / km) +356m 5:53 / km

Hoped to fit in 25-26km before heading to Belinda's parents to pick the kids up.

Started off OK, bit slow heading into the easterly along Abernethy/Beenyup Rd, then headed up the hill. Started running short of time getting close to Wungong dam (six million dollar man had delayed my start). Cut back to towards Byford a bit earlier than I wanted, but turned out OK, except I failed to find the track at the bottom of the landing strip, because I was at the bottom of the clearing just south of the landing strip, so had to bush bash a bit to find another track which took me nicely down to the old rifle range, where I was very weary of magpie attack, which didn't eventuate until I was heading along Thomas Rd just near Wungong South Rd.

Planned return to respectable speed once I got back onto the flats with the tailwind didn't eventuate despite having a gel on the way down the hill (thought I better try one out again since I now have a bunch of them).

Had to slightly overshoot home to at least get to 24km at which time a saw a bike rider getting paced by a moped, complete with a roller on the back and when I doubled back to home he'd turned from the other end of the road and came past again.

Fresh legs and a howling easterly meant it was smash time.

Road workers and mega slow traffic light blew a far chunk of time gained with the tailwind, although trucks to help me get upto to a good speed coming away from Tonkin Hwy and Nicholson Rd helped.

Lots of fodder along the freeway today. Caught a flatbar just before Berrigan and he tried to sit in behind, so I smashed the rises and he disappeared.

Caught crank it up man after Mt Henry, he was dithering along under 30kph, I had a feeling it was him so sat in behind, I took a turn a bit after Canning Bridge, before he went out front and cranked up to over 40kph, before he switched off again just before Mill Pt Rd where there were some slow riders. I went past, but he'd decided to go back to dithering around.

Flew around Mts Bay Rd, just briefly nudging 48kph and not gaining on the guy 50-100m ahead.

Claremont to Rossmoyne

Took a shortcut home. Slogged into the wind to the narrows, more slogging into the wind down to Mt Henry, more slogging into the wind round to Rossmoyne, then a blast down to the river.

Same as Ricky and Andre said (copied tRicky's time and dist, since I left my GPS at home) ... I sucked big time. Dropped off as we came back onto WC Hwy from Challenger, maybe I'd been lulled into a false sense of security maybe I wasn't really in the mood to switch on properly, maybe I just sucked.

Andre smashed it out, with me trying to close 50, 100, 200m gap, redlights. Eventually the boys pulled over to wait for me somewhere after the cop shop.

I didn't do much work after being off the back for so long, so only shortish efforts

Seem to have a sore spot near my right kidney, maybe I bumped it, or strained something, very sore standing after after sitting around at work.

Hopefully I can somehow get into the zone for GC5kTT this arvo.

Kinda over the rain now, coming back from the pizza shop at lunch time, the wet paper bag decided the middle of Stirling Hwy was a good spot for my lunch.

Running warm up/down 8:54 [2] 1.57 km (5:40 / km)

Assuming I did about the same as tRicky.

Running race (GC5KTT) 20:26 [4] 4.86 km (4:12 / km)

This mornings renegades were joined by Ann and Simon, with Fletch to hand out a very tasty mini crunchy for line honours and PB.

Went off 3rd, after Ann and Andre. No GPS, so no idea how well I was going along the way just tried to go as fast as possible including pushing hard up the hills knowing I'd recover on the downhills.

Caught Andre at the first corner as he was only 20 seconds ahead and nursing a sore ankle. Passed Ann about half way through. No sign of Simon or tRicky as I looked back at the top of Durston. Wasn't sure how I was going but thought I was probably ahead of my PB, so pushed hard through to the end to take 25 secs. off my PB.

Very happy that training hard has resulted in a good improvement even after being a basket case this morning.

20:26 jumps me nicely ahead of Wil in the PB stakes. Pity Wil didn't make it along to defend his honour.

Running warm up/down 7:31 [2] 1.19 km (6:19 / km)

Couple of seconds slower than tRicky, since he put in a burst of speed to take line honours in the cool down.

Mtn Bike race (MTBO Goat Farm) 2:30:04 [3] 27.0 km (10.8 kph)
shoes: Scott Spark 60 2011

Lots of big mistakes, including forgetting to start my GPS till I got to the first control, which I went round the low way to get to. Not too bad 2 - 9, was up on a higher track, before dropping down to 10.

Took the wrong road to 12 so had to climb a big hill and go down again, to go back up to 13. OK 13 - 17 with Sickman catching me and getting away slightly. We both took a stupid way to 18, and Tim eventually got away heading down a steep rocky track.

Then I went astray big time on the way to 19, little bit bsd to 21, screwed around trying to avoid a bunch of horse riders on the way to 22, went round a long way and still ended up behind them, and managed to fall off going round a sharp corner at low speed after deciding I should have a drink from my drink bottle after two hours.

Took the low road to 23 then had no idea which way to go from the earlier 6 (since it wasn't marked on the 2nd map). And finally ended up too high into 24.
