Rogaining race (Too Easy) 11:56:38 [4] 57.5 km (12:28 / km)
slept:7.0 shoes: Rossi hiking boots

Planned a 56km course to get 2500 points. Pan slightly modified before we even started.

Struggled to keep up with Andre from early on, legs not quite feeling right and really hard trying to maintain same walking pace as Andre.
Lots of track work and contouring. Getting really hot early in the afternoon and ran out of water on the way to our 3rd water drop coming up to half way through, with legs still feeling rubbish.

A nice juicy apple from the patrol car approaching the water drop helped quench the thirst a bit, then a couple of ibuprofen, change of socks and major tightening of boot laces at the water drop. After which feet felt better and things picked up.

Wil and Mark passed us heading along the power line from 102, then led us astray on the way to 92 (word of advice - don't trust ANYONE). We made it up to 92 before them after which my legs felt brilliant and had a really comfortable run down to 70, with Wil and Mark apparently behind us for a few controls before we dropped a couple more controls from the plan and we parted company for the duration.

We were running nearly an hour late halfway though and dropped some controls to get back on time, but for a while it seemed we just kept dropping time even though we were dropping more controls. But first few hours and last few hours we managed to stick to plan, had to jog most down hills on the run in and push hard on the up hills, running tight on time and didn't bother getting the last 20 pointer on the way in.

Straight line dist. of what we ended up doing was 47km, with actual dist 57.5km

Hiking (Ryan/Sophie in backpack) 1:25:00 [3] 2.6 km (32:42 / km)
slept:7.0 (rest day)

Sophie wanted to go in one of my hill walks that she normally misses out on when she's at kindy. So Sophie and Ryan took turns walking and going in the backpack, only went as far as the first "top of a hill". Neither of the kids wanted to walk towards the end, but we got back eventually, dragging Ryan who kept trying to stop and stomp on millipedes along the way. Also heaps of roos around on the way up.

Running 42:42 [3] 8.12 km (5:16 / km)
ahr:157 max:173 slept:7.0

Kings Park - short light run, random run around to kill time before meeting Ann, then out along the start of Ann's run, before I doubled back, to try to get to work a bit earlier today. Ended up slightly longer than the planned half hour.
5 PM

Running 43:23 [5] 8.65 km (5:01 / km)
ahr:158 max:199

Grass Tree walk loops, clockwise this time, used moving time from GPS for total time.

Five laps just over 900m each with 2.5 min rest between each.

3:46

Hmm, first two loops heaps slower than last week, last three 1-3 seconds faster, not convinced lap times are accurate, GPS spat out an error message after the second loop. Maybe the 8km this morning didn't help.

Going clockwise felt a lot more comfortable, I think I like going up the steepest section rather than down.

Resting now till Sat.

Darling Downs to Claremont

Started out easy and a bit chilly, reasonable speed without much effort. Some guy came past me after the hill over the railway approaching Roe Hwy, since he'd a a short rest behind me I decided to take the bait, but just about lost him heading down to the loopy bit at the end of Row Hwy, luckily he was a bit slow up the hills, so hung on very loosely with him getting a bit of a break through any slow bits. By Canning bridge thought I should do some work, so got out in front for a while, before he got back in front a bit before Mill Point Rd. Still hung on over the narrows, then he went straight on as I went towards Crawley, put in a reasonable effort the rest of the way.

On the bit of Hackett Dr heading west towards Princess Rd, some typical bus driver decided to get half past me then looked like he wanted to pull over in a completely random spot, since I tend to find some useful words to yell very loudly in the situations, he then let me past before pulling over.

Made it to work in good time, hopefully I can make it home again.

Claremont to Darling Downs

Got a bit of a tow heading towards Canning bridge, another guy decided to rest behind me before going past, took a couple of turns on the front each, before he was no longer behind me after Canning bridge. No more assistance after that, except the suction from a big Harvey Fresh truck passing along Rowley Rd. Legs still going alright all the way home.
