Running 1:38:22 [3]

It was a good long run. Started out a little easy but got faster as it went on. Ran the bike path plus a few trials and the gold course to the park by Dorset Park which was actually quite nice for running, although I did only have to kill about ten minutes at that point. Pretty tired now, though. Great weather!

Running warm up/down 12:30 [3]

Up (with weight gloves)

Agility 30:30 [3]

Three orienteering exercises (mini line-O, sprint, and spider) plus five agility exercises. I wore weight gloves for all but the first orienteering exercise because it would have been unreasonably hard. I did five minutes for each orienteering exercise and then three minutes for each agility, but I accidentally went over by 30 seconds on one of them.

Down (with weight gloves)

Core 12:30 [3]

CORE! I left my watch running because I went straight into the 25 pushups, 15 on fingertips, and those took me about thirty seconds, so from now on, 12:30 means core plus extra planks plus 25 pushups, 15 on fingertips.

Map Study 25:00 [3]

I should have done this a week or two ago, but it was super complicated and intimidating. Anyway, here's the course. It's crazy.

Map Study 10:00 [3]

A bit more map study as a study-study brake. Fun course, I picked a lot of the same routes as the the competitors (although most were about the same time regardless of direction), but I cam confused that NOBODY took the route from three to four where you take the first street on the right and approach the control from the south. I thought that would have been fastest, or at least close.

Running 47:19 [3]

I decided to run a little but shorter today because the last two days were at a fairly good effort, but that isn't to say today was particularly easy. I ran with weight gloves so by the end my biceps and shoulders were fairly exhausted, and the extra weight on the arms makes running altogether a bit tougher, because it takes away from the blood being sent to my legs. Given all this, I was moving fairly well.

Yoga (Flexibility) 34:00 [3]

Four yoga sessions back-to-back:
Flexibility
Hardcore Core
Strength
Core

To be honest, I'm kind of disappointed with how easy they all were. Sure, some of the exercises were really difficult, but 75% of the time it was easy. I'm probably going to go back to my regular core routine but add a few of the more difficult exercises as well as some stretching and strength stuff. I can probably even fit all of that into half an hour, so it would save time as well.

Map Study 15:00 [3]

This was a fun one. I was a little pressed for time when I picked my routes, but I'm fairly comfortable with most of them. It's hard to make accurate decisions when you don't know how the green or marshy areas are, though.

Running 58:06 [3]

A nice run in the rain. Felt good, ran well, and kept up a good pace. Got my shoes a little muddy, though.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [3]

Up

Running intervals 30:55 [3]

I felt kind of sluggish during my warm-up, and I guess two hours wasn't quite enough to digest a sandwich and several Cinnamon Toast Crunch Treats (Like Rice Krispy Treats, but with Cinnamon Toast Crunch instead). I wasn't uncomfortable while running, but I didn't feel like I was ready to really push hard either. to be honest the food probably played only a tiny part in my performance. A much larger factor was the wind, which was significant enough that once or twice I had to lean into it just slightly, so I blame it for at least some of my lost time.

Speaking of which, the workout was a 1600, 2x800, 4x400, with 4 minutes rest after the 1600, 3 minutes after each 800, and 90 seconds after each 400. Goal times were 5:45, 2:40, 70-75 (each distance slightly faster than before).

My times:
1600 - 5:41
800s - 2:44, 2:50
400s - 77, 78, 81, 74

Running warm up/down 17:10 [3]

Down. It was supposed to be 10-15 but I misjudged my route.

Core 12:00 [3]

CORE! Except more like "core :(". I did an extra minute of PLANKS at the end as well as my usual +25 pushups, 15 on fingertips. (Assume from now on that 12:00 core means extra PLANKS at the end. PLANKS, Melanie, cough cough PLANKS.)

Orienteering race 1:13:06 [3] *** 7.0 km (10:27 / km)
22c

Today was even worse than yesterday.I couldn't focus on orienteering; my mind kept wandering towards other stuff and every time I tried to bring it back it would be gone ten seconds later. About half way through I finally decided I was going to think if the race as a training in concentration while orienteering, and it got a little better after that, but I was already running at a slow pace and I had already made a bunch of little mistakes which carried over to the second half. It didn't help that control 20 was in the wrong spot and I lost at least three minutes trying to find it. Turns out I actually ran past it when going to the right spot, so that was rather frustrating. Not my weekend by any means.
