orienteering training (JDP training) 1:30:00 [1]

put out some controls on the north side of Nose Hill for the older kids training. Two sessions - attack points and catching features.
VERY windy so felt cool even though it was 15ºC. Kids varied quite a lot in experience and confidence, so some went in pairs. Followed some, and went in groups at times

Nose Hill with Karen. Sunny day though a little cool at first. Started and finished with a walk. 10k of run. Time sure passes quickly when you are chatting most of the time (even though it really wasn't a zone 1 run!)

As I was still not sure about my ankle/foot, and have the prospect of a long run with Karen tomorrow, I thought a slow short run was in order. Just through the green space keeping to grass where ever possible. Didn't feel my foot at all except for the first step down our pathway.
Beautiful sunny day, and the grass is now green instead of the dreary brown.
5 min walk at start and end of 30 min run

aerobics/strength class 1:10:00 [1]
slept:9.0

As i had felt a kind of instability outside and below my left ankle during Sunday's race and since then, wore my ankle brace and didn't do any jumping or fast movements on my left foot.
5 PM

trail running (canmore Pk) 33:05 intensity: (14:00 @0) + (7:52 @1) + (11:07 @2) + (6 @3) 5.13 km (6:27 / km) +15m 6:21 / km

Canmore park for the first session with Roger and Helly. Nessie was the only other person there, so I was the youngest by a long shot! As my ankle still feels odd, I wore the brace and didn't push it.
Warm-up around the park; drills finishing with strides and then once around again with Roger. Finished up with a little barefoot jog.
Beautiful evening with sunshine and +20ºC!!! we were actually seeking shade - just not used to these warm temps!
Subtracted 14 minutes for standing around.

road running (MD 10k) 48:59 intensity: (1 @1) + (55 @2) + (5:28 @3) + (20:40 @4) + (21:55 @5) 9.99 km (4:54 / km) +59m 4:46 / km

Mother's day 10 km, from Chinook this year. Over 2000 runners in the 10k, never mind the 2500 5k and the hordes of walkers. Probably >10,000.
Rainy and about 6ºC. More hills than last year and I was almost a minute slower. But the fastest was 30:24, and last year was 31:44 so I can't say that the course was slower... And didn't place in my age - 5/136. However, on the plus side, I was under 49min ;-) And my last two km were at the same speed as the first!
Didn't overheat! And more or less kept my shoes dry till the last few hundred metres where there were giant puddles.
