Running Smooth 20:00 [2]

Various warm-up sessions through the day.

Orienteering City/Park (race) 15:22 [4] 2.25 km (6:50 / km) +60m 6:02 / km

Pig Sprint in a park with forest ravines and open meadows. Good clean run with the best route choices on the two longer legs in the beginning of the course. Excellent sprint area and a sunny crisp day. Fun!

Orienteering Forest (race) 35:33 [4] 5.7 km (6:14 / km) +300m 4:56 / km

Last leg for the Trans Canada Express. Started just under a minute behind Eric Bone in third place, 5 minutes behind Sergei Zhyk. Ran hard down and up the ravines in the beginning and could see Eric's back the first time at control 4, but very far ahead in the open forest. Saw him again coming in to the spectator control and now he was pretty close suddenly. From this point I was just the same speed as him and could never close the gap. Great course for the spectators with many loops through the finish area. Vlad was the MC and the race was great! Caught 4 min on Zhuk, so it was pretty close in the end. I had the fastest time on the last leg of the relay.

Running Rough 45:00 [2]

Warm-up and cool-down. Took time to do a proper warm-up.

Orienteering Forest (race) 34:54 [4] 4.8 km (7:16 / km) +290m 5:35 / km

Middle distance Pig. Ravine and ridge, with a section very detailed control picking in some small depressions. Ran well and focused, nothing but maybe 30 seconds total lost on mistakes. 1:16 behind Jon, could not have run that time without better running shape. Fun, fun stuff!

Hiking 4:00:00 [2]

Telemark ski trip up to Mount Brew. Physically and mentally tough slog up the mountain. Andrea's rented boots hurt her feet badly and we switched. Lucky I have small feet! Higher up the mountain the snow was wet in the intense sunshine and stuck to our skins in 5 pound clumps. At this time we had also run out of water to drink... We considered turning around just when the trip was saved by a group of skiers going down the mountain that had some wax. This stopped the snow from sticking to the skis. The whole trek took us almost 8 hours of hard work. Fantastic terrain around the hut for beginner downhill skiing. Logging part of the uphill effort.
