Gunstock skating. Started on the lanes just to ease into things. Started with my old green fiberglass longer poles (165 cm), but realized how much heavier they are than my newer (in comparison to these 20+ year old ones) metal shaft ones (160 cm). Also reinforced that I do much better with the shorter one. As soon as I fix the broken tip on the 155 cm pair, will see if even shorter is better for skating at this stage in my life...
They regroomed some of the closer in trails, which tilled up the top few inches again, but also widened the trail a bit - this will be in much better shape after the 5-10" we're supposed to get tonight. the out trails were still pretty good although they hadn't been touched in Fri night's grooming.
Continue to run out of oomph rather quickly when hitting uphills, but there is some improvement.

Gunstock on 8" of new snow. They'd rolled it fairly well, at least the sections away from what they've been trying to maintain the past few weeks. There it looks like they'd tilled the crap underneath right into the new clean powder.
Spent most of my time out in the hinterlands and the S side of Cobble. No track set and focused on not trying to push too much. Wax was OK - although it was worthless going up the first hill on the powerlines. Contemplated slapping on a much softer wax, but that would have dragged and iced up once I got in the shade.
A nice Blue Extra sort of day. Plenty of folks out and about.

Yardwork (Moving snow) 45:00 [1]

5-6" of nice powder, was being dealt with nicely by the snowblower, until the drive belt for the front auger/blower slipped off. Moved enough out of the way to be able to get the truck out of the driveway.

Gunstock
Looks like he XC trails hadn't been touched yet, so opted for some downhill. Must have been some school cancellations, with more kids around than expected. Some trails had been groomed earlier this morning, with a couple inches of fresh powder on top, although that had all been skied by the time o got there, 1 hour after opening. Couple of trails didn't seem to have been groomed since the snow started, with lots of softish moguls formed - was having some problems working down through that.

Yardwork (Moving snow) 30:00 [1]

Round 2 - had to get the belt rerun through the pullies twice, much quicker the second time, once I'd figured out all the tricks. Had to scrape all the sections that had been walked/driven on, as it was packing down very nicely, so much that the snowblower would just ride up over it.
Quite a bit by hand during this round as well.

Peeptoad Pond - to the end of the lane, left, then left again and down to the first (only?) streetlight, then reverse.
Was pretty tired after a long day of grandfathering, but it was good to get out and decompress.

Walking 37:24 [1] 3.03 km (12:20 / km) +11m 12:07 / km
shoes: Green Roclite 345 GTX

Peeptoad Pond area - to the end of the lane, then right to the first intersection, reverse past the end of the lane to the first intersection in the other direction, then back in.
Only turned on my headlamp when vehicles approached - night vision kicks in pretty fast once the headlamp is off.
Nice and peaceful.
