weight:168.4lbs shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3

More on this extravaganza later. Watch stopped. Finished 99th (double figures) out of 320 or so, Hugh4 did well - of course - but ran an estimated extra mile. Again, more when I have the energy to think about it.

OK - here's my thinking after a good night's sleep. 1 - really enjoyed the day with Hugh4; 2 - love the crowd of trailrunners (they and orienteers are the folks I would populate my next planet with); 3 - I am absolutely awful on uphills (everyone passes me) and it's not all mental; 4 - The course had it all, from easy gravel roads to scary climb-overs (had to help a young woman up a boulder face), steep switchbacks and sidehills; 5 - it rained a LOT after about 2.5 hours, turning trails into muddy streams; 6 - it was generally cool, even chilly when wet; 7 - my Goo, Nuun, hand-held water bottle, etc. were just about perfect; 8 - no chaffing!; 9 - I am officially happy with my effort and believe I am as capable of torturing myself as anyone; 10 - my Garmin is worthless; 11 - I saw no; one older than I out there.

74F - 88% dress rehearsal for Saturday. Tested everything - clothes, shoes, Nuun, hydration, chaffing issues, etc. Suppose I'm ready. Very humid. A little rain. Admit I'm thinking about this a lot. Run will essentially be in thirds: first third net downhill a lot, second net uphill a lot, with two very challenging hills, and third third fairly net level. I hate ups.
