Numerous small errors. Began with a one minute stand around at the start, walking in circles wondering which trail was the right one. Generally was not able to constently stay on a bearing in trashy woods. Search for white woods routes a failure (especially 8 to 9, where I planned to run past a utility building only to find that it was used to throw branches, logs and other debris). Best controls: 2, 5, 6 & 7. Worst: 4, 9, 10. Oh - and any possible trash-talking on my part re. AnnieMac is impossible, since she essentially beat me except for one very bad control, AND, beat me on the run in. Nice work Annie.
And I've just come up with the BEST excuse EVER for this mediocre performance. I'd read the idea of squeezing a tennis ball in one hand, to stimulate the OTHER side of the brain. So I did just that for a few minutes, in my LEFT hand; and I now realize that it should have been in my RIGHT hand, thus stimulating the LEFT side of my brain: analytical, logical, sequential and so forth. I stimulated, instead, the creative, random, intuitive, dreamy side - as if that needed stimulation. Wow. That's good to know. Watch out everyone. What a right-brained excuse!
