Orienteering race (British Champs M21S) 1:05:34 [4] *** 8.4 km (7:48 / km)
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Dropped down to the short due to the groin injury still playing up.

Finished 2nd overall on course 8 so acceptable, won a few legs but was off from 1st from the off.

Dropped 1min on control 1 just not focussed really simple path option into control but just went direct through crap terrain while losing touch with the map!

Bit hesitant to #6 dropped 30 secs

Lost a min on #7 although still 2nd fastest leg - but a much much better route to the south could easily have made up a min here

#10 and #11 just lost focus and 3min!!!!!!!

So all in all 6min down on the lead but 5.30 min of errors at least!

If I wasn't injured I probably could have run a bit faster too - still I'll be running elite in future I think.

Was just right for current fitness today though

SLOW training night 'peg Relay'

Started off quite steady as still worried about injuring myself after struggling round on sun. Came into No.1 just behind Don and missed the first run of Pegs, came in amongst the first few into 2 and got the peg - exited it with Ed you had got the first one and so tucked behind him to 3 and pegged that one, 3a was up on the hill an dstruggled up it so lost space on Ed and just missed out on Peg 4 to Paul Todd by about a foot, but ran well from there with James Lyne and later Ed through to the end, but tried to be clever on the last leg and James kept it simple and crossed the line in front of me and so I was pushed into 3rd with 6 pegs - not bad but can do much much better when fit.

Ed 9 pegs 21.48
James 6 pegs 22.57
Dan 6 pegs 23.14
Ben S 4 pegs 21.59
Jorgen 4 pegs 22.42
Paul T 3 pegs 22.41
Don 2 pegs 22.27
Mike G 2 pegs 23.28
Allan 1 peg 23.10
Andy R 1 peg 23.33
Chris 1 peg 25.46
Jayne 23.36
Kate 23.45
Dave 32.01
Fran 35.00

Orienteering warm up/down 7:01 [3] 0.66 mi (10:42 / mi) +5m 10:27 / mi
shoes: Inov 8s - Oroc 280s

Went out to collect some controls as a warm down but threw groin out and ended up walking back in..... not right - time to stretch and gain massages.
