From work to event via Jaynes office to borrow compass

Orienteering race (bishop's Park Parkrace) 29:29 [5] *** 7.1 mi (4:09 / mi)
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Good race and nice new map - was leading until No.7 then started to fall behind a bit as the legs came off, 1st error was at 14 where i thought it was an underpass but it wasn't and then fluffed it right at the end with not going around the outside of the wood for 29.

Was starting to wobble from about 23 onwards due to fatigue also and seconds lost due to not thinking too clearly.

Cracking race

Orienteering race (Canturbury Urban Race) 53:50 [5] *** 11.1 km (4:51 / km)
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Much better run today - bit shaky at the start getting into the map. Could have taken a better route to 1 but 2 was an error, was trying to think too far ahead and messed about on the wrong corner losing about 20 seconds? Ok for a few then, looks like I nailed No.5 down and thats where I caught USkiwi although didn't see I'd done that until I was coming out of 6, surprised I'd done it so early really. Got caught by Paulc coming out of 12 and used the long leg to plan 15-16, thinking I could hold him till then and use him to carry me through the next few. Exited 15 poorly for all of that, losing approx 30 secs, saw paulc again exiting 17, but moving away from me, probaby a min up by now.

Next error was at 19 where I thought I'd clocked it on my previous leg and didn't navigate cleanly in and it wasn't the entry I thought it was another 13 secs here. 22 bit wobbly 10 secs - clean then until 28 where I forgot the plan and spent 20 seconds correcting - stupid tired thinking.

So all in all approx 1.20 lost in errors which I suppose is good for me and I couldn't have given any more physically as was spent by the end.

Got done by lost by 4 secs and it was No.28 where I lost it as I'd snook a lead over him from 10 after falling behind over the 1st 4 and clawing back level at 5. We were isolated iin our finish not really in touch with those in front but clear of those behind.

negating errors I still wouldn't have had any more places (apart from losts) but happy with 6th especially after yesterday.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [3]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Running race (Finsbury Parkrun) 18:51 [5] 5.0 km (3:46 / km)
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Lots of fast peeps there today including Mr Wyber who went off like a rocket and took the win in around 16.52.

Held my pace ok, but no-one really around me until Dave cruised past and dropped me at the start of the 2nd lap and couldn't hold him, he came in around 30 seconds up I think

One guy did catch me at the top of the second hill, but I kicked as he caught me and stayed ahead.

Happy enough but not feeling great still

Orienteering race (Canturbury Sprint) 24:09 [5] ***
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Bit of a shaky start as picked up the map with the 2nd half uppermost and took a few seconds to settle, remainder of 1st half fairly good nothing special though. Was sitting with a fairly respectable time when arrived at the change point but messed up turnover and dropped about a minute and a half, still ahead ahead of Harold and Evan here then score stage picked 1 up out of the optimal route choice but still ok then lost focus on the second to last control and dropped another minute - not that good all in all.

Looking at the splits I was sitting around 4th till the end of the linear then dropped a few with initial error and then losing to USkiwi and Eoin with the 2nd one

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Easy cruise from work to the race, might have been a little far for a warm up really.

Orienteering race (Hyde Park Race) 26:52 [5]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

A better race than last night - still came in 9th, but was a much better field so happier, although so should have been a touch faster.

Bit slow off the start, legs not turning over fast enough? or lack of effort, clean through to 4, maybe not the best line to 5 and hesitated early as wasn't really a wood but sparse trees. 6-8 (7 had been blocked off) was interesting as we'd been briefed on an OOb area thatw asn't on the map and took a less than optimal route to avoid it. then went north round to 10 instead of south which cost approx 15 secs and then got overhauled on the long leg from 10-11 by Jonathon Albon who'd amde up 2 minutes, but as I then only lost 30 seconds to him in the lastter stages shows that he may be more of a runner than an orienteer as up to the point where he passed me had both me and Don leading him in and when he'd gone past us he started wobbling - still he's fast enough to make up for it.

Be interesting to see the splits cause felt lost pace in the latter stages....

Orienteering race (Eltham parkrace) 30:53 [5]
shoes: Sauconys Guide 4s

Once again a poor run - wood was pretty scrappy and never really got to grip with it. Made sizable errors on No.s 1, 6 and 8 not good

As most others had a mare, then I came in 10th which isn't bad just not as good as I wanted
