Gym Mayfield - Class Weights 55:00 [3]

Time fill to wake up prior to drive tot win brothers prior to O'Shea Orienteering event at 2:30 pm
2 PM

Orienteering - Park (O'Shea - Pt Wolstoncroft) 39:58 [3] 5.3 km (7:32 / km)
22c shoes: Salomons June 2014

Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre.
Nominal 4.5 km. Scale 1:5000. Long A.
22 controls.
Tracks very overgrown.
Bush bashed from 9 to 10 so lost 5 minutes fighting through lantana and came out way too early on the lake shoreline. The only saving grace was there was someone elses footprints along the shoreline as well!

First timed bush or park event I have competed in since destroying ankle.

Pretty tired at the end and not looking forward physically to the 2nd leg.
3 PM

Orienteering - Park (O'Shea - Pt Wolstoncroft) 16:19 [3] 2.3 km (7:06 / km)
19c shoes: Salomons June 2014

Point Wolstoncroft Sport and Recreation Centre.
Nominal 2.2 km. Scale 1:2500. Long B
19 Controls.
Grabbed map, punched start and ran off towards control #1. Then realised that I hadn't taken a copy of control descriptions / numbers and it wasn't on the map either so ran back to the start and grabbed it.
So guaranteed to have the worst split of the day for that leg! Embarrassing screwup but at least by not having a running partner I didn't have to explain myself to someone else.

Very tired! Skipping the night event. Just as well because with tomorrows score event and no team mate I will "have" to get them all and will be twice the time of everyone else!

1 PM

Run 5 km NSW - Unofficial Newy Park 26:19 [5] 5.0 km (5:16 / km)
weight:81.6kg shoes: Salomons June 2014

Early mark from work after a 12 hour day yesterday.
Must be my first attempt at a timed run post ankle injury. Time absymal.
Splits tell the story
4:39, 5:03, 5:26, 5:29, 5:35.
Sweaty dripping mess at the end.

Weight still declining and I will revert to normal portion sizes again soon. Down 2.4 kg since Jan 30. Balancing act somewhere between looking gaunt in the face and having a flat stomach.
4 PM

Gym Mayfield - Solo Bike 30:00 [3] 13.4 km (2:14 / km)

Somewhat leisurely effort prior to gym class

Gym Mayfield - Class Weights 55:00 [3]

Chest track a killer.
Fairly tired and need a good sleep catchup tonight after several early mornings in a row.

Gardening - Mowing (#42 34.8 hrs - 35.5 hrs) 40:00 [1]

6:05 pm - 6:45 pm
Haven't mowed in exactly 3 weeks.
Could have left another week as very patchy and variable but elected to tidy up the front and back yards.

Gardening - General 1:10:00 [1]

6:45 pm - 7:30 pm
Whippersnipping around trees, drains, and house.

7:30 pm - 7:55 pm
This weeks fallen stick harvest.

5 PM

Orienteering - Street (#17 Stockton) 43:54 [3] 7.73 km (5:41 / km)
shoes: Salomons June 2014

Street-O final.

Decided route at the start and didn't change it.
Deliberately chose to do the south end first and get all the wiggly back and forth done first and leave a fairly straight line run back from 3G.

Route 1C 1D 2A 3A 1H 2C 1E 2B 1Q 1G 3C 1J 2E 3D 1K 2G 3E 1N 2H 3H 1P 2J 3G 1M 3K 1L 2D 1B 1A

1 point x 14, 2 point x 8, 3 point x 7 for 29 controls and 51 points.

Wanted to crack 8 km but didn't quite make it!

I will have to check my records but think this is my highest ever point score .... not that it will matter with people clearing the entire course under time!

Walk - Bush (Solo - Kincumba) 3:38:07 [1] 15.6 km (13:59 / km)
shoes: Salomons June 2014

Kincumba Mountain Reserve.

Kanning Walk first (this loop the most interesting).

Then Yanina Walk (to Nyari lookout and Colin Waters lookout neither of which was too impressive as overgrown) then NE until totally out of the reserve.
Then backtrack via loop trail and detour to Warriwarri lookout (again overgrown).
Back to picnic ground and detour to Illawong lookout then down Glassons Trail to the entrance road and back up the steep entrance road.

There was another 4.1 km one-way option along Sid Pulsford walk but since it was basically another fire trail, I was not overly interested.

The first 300 metres from campground to caves via huge granite boulders was very impressive.
Majority of rest of walk was basically time fill rather than going home.

Note

Brother was amazing me with his Oculus Samsung phone 3D headset.

Watching videos of
- flying a helicopter over stunning waterfalls
- flying over buildings
- sitting in the middle of a group of lions (as you turn your head they are all around)
- floating on a gondola on canals of Venice

I can see this technology progressing in the future and totally revolutionising a wide range of things.

I found the best one was sitting in a movie theatre .... and looking around at the 3D seats either side, and behind you. It was so amazingly realistic that it became quite disconcerting to wave your hand in front of your face and not see it!

See below video ... not hamming it up .... was actually looking around.
It was hard to fight the temptation to get up and stand.
May have to click on it to go to the picassa site to get it to play properly.
The other funny thing about the video is that we both speak and probably no-one can tell whose voice is whose .... apart from my lips not moving.
