Was really careful lining up features coming up the reentrant going to 7. Got over crest, didn’t see control or ditches. Looked at deep stream banks and decided I was way right. Turned left and went until it was clear it was wrong. Realized deep stream banks were mapped as thin erosion gully.
No idea why 11 is marked as a boom. I’m guessing others ran and I continued to walk. My speed should have been very consistent on this leg compared to previous legs. I’m okay with the algorithm showing uphills as booms because I’m so slow uphill, but this was a downhill leg.
The new watch, Garmin Enduro 2, continues to show very small details about my track that surprise me. My little overshoot on 1 seems exact, as does the boom at 7. Little details on the two long legs, 6 and 8, match my memory, as do the leg 10 avoidance of deadfall and bailing to the road. (Last week I suggested the watch might be integrating compass and inertial data to improve the track over “just GPS.”)
