Orienteering race 20:57 [2] 1.96 km (10:42 / km) +37m 9:46 / km
ahr:157 max:170 shoes: Nike Trail (Blue)

Cuivre River Sprint at Camp Sherwood.

I was saving myself for my official category Red night-o, so I took it really easy. Did a good job---Felt great at the finish.

A really fun little sprint. I usually don't like sprints with so few controls, but Eric really focused on legs that require multiple steps of navigation, and even at the slow speed I was going, it was fun.

Night O' race 2:10:32 [4] *** 9.43 km (13:51 / km) +208m 12:28 / km
ahr:161 max:176 shoes: Nike Trail (Blue)

Cuivre River Night-O. US Night-O Champs.

I wasn't looking forward to running Red, and I intentionally didn't check the M45 entries to check my chances. Turns out I was 4th by a long shot.

Screwed up the first two controls. I'll check the track, but I'm guess 3 min on 1 and 4 min on 2. On both I felt like I did everything right, hit all my attackpoints, saw everything I expected except the right control. Splits say I messed up 5. I'm not sure I did except leaving it.

I think practicing last week on a map I don't trust hurt my confidence. From 5 on, I got comfortable with the map and started hitting everything really well.

Nice course. Only complaint would be some unmapped green, especially on the last leg. Could've saved a few minutes taking a different route.
