Deja Vu 2 at Rentschler. Really wanted the workout, but I started really feeling the first race. Unlike the first race, I never really got going except on the downhill sections (there were lots of slight downhill that I was just flying on). I looked really strong finishing, but as I approached the go control, I felt my right calf cramping, and then when I turned back uphill for the final split, both calves cramped. So I pretty much left it all out there, even considering the 2 minutes I stood at 2 watching some guys using a serious 11hp homemade winch to do some water skateboarding up the Rentschler low-head dam. What is water skateboarding? I have no idea. I asked if it was a wake board, and one guy said, "Sorta, except wake boards attach to your feet." {Edit: I think it's called
Wakeskating.) It's now 5 hours later, and I'm feeling it. Afterwards, had a
Mount Carmel amber ale, made in Cincinnati. Very nice.
(Allergies were really bad. I might need some sort of inhaler before I race. Mike heard me sort of violently coughing / wretching from over 50m away and I heard him through the trees, "Are you okay?". )
